What to look for in a carpet cleaning machine
« on: November 22, 2011, 05:23:20 pm »
I'm going to start a new ltd company next year and one of the services i'll be offering is carpet cleaning.

I want a portable machine and have been looking at some of the old post.

I've been looking and found this http://www.cleansmartsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/Airflex_Storm.html

Which seams to be a good manchine but cost quite a bit.

I did have in mind the prochem galaxy but looking at the difference in specs I've now gone of the idea (but like the price).

could you please recommend to me some good start up machines.

Looks a blinding machine and nearly got one and I understand good company to deal with, but as I already have a tm and all of my porty work needs to mobile I went for this one http://www.amtechuk.co.uk/shop/Powr-Flite_PFX1385Max_Perfect_Heat_Black_Max_Carpet_Cleaning_Machine-pid-174.html

Also it matches the colure of my van  ::) not that price had any influence

I started with the ninja 135psi blinding machine (paid £3k/£3.5k for it in 2001) so the ones above are cheap as chips.

Hi...I started out with a Prochem Galaxy and found it a good machine..I did very big commercial work with it but wish i went for the Steempro but its great for domestic work....Alltec sells a good small machine (Express 130psi with inline heater) its better spec like 2x3 stage vacs where the Galaxy only has 1x2 stage vac, i had a 3 stage vac put in my galaxy. The only bad bit with galaxy it had no heater so was a nightmare in rented house with no hot water...(2 kettles on the go)..I have just sold my Galaxy on Ebay :'(but iam looking to get the Express machine just for domestic jobs and use my Prochem Steempro for commercial work....

Have a chat with Robert to get a good deal..(Its a Sniper renamed).

I hope this helps you out........(Richard)

There are many good machines around but unless someone has used all the machine's extensively, it's hard to really say which is the best.

I'm a self confessed "Fan Boy" ( ;D) of my new machine and brilliant after sales, The Jaguar 6.6.

I would certainly do your homework and even see if you can get to have a go with a few machines before taking the plunge.

People will try and baffle you with technical details (boring), but what you're looking for is a great, reliable machine with a fantastic customer service to match..

I started with the Ashby's Ninja quite good machine poor trust and customer service though. got rid of it quick.
Now have the Airflex Turbo from cleansmart and from my own experience its a well thought out, reliable and powerful machine the Storm is even better from what i've heard, dont under estimate customer service like i did. cleansmart have never let me down and dont try and rip me off.
I dont know if its the best machine everyone thinks they have the best but i have had the Turbo for 18 months i never have to take it in a property and run up to 150 ft of hose off it without any trouble, i did not even buy the machine from Cleansmart i got it off a polish carpet cleaner who did not realise how difficult it would be to get customers  ::) so he sold it to me what amazed me though was Mat at Cleansmart carried the warranty over which i thought was a very good gesture.

Why after sales ???

I've never had a problem, but I know that where I bought the machine from bend over backwards for their customers. Alltec and Extracta were the same I hasten to add.....

Good after sales is paramount, surely! Or am I being a numpty ???

This looks like a good machine, I looked at the one I posted again and read about the pump needs servicing every 500 hours! I'm now wondering how much that is going to cost.

I really want a portable machine that's going to give me the ability of a truck mount or close to it.

I don't want to be having problems like this..
http://www.truckmountforums.com/general-carpet-cleaning-and-upholstery-discussion/1335-rug-doctor-vs-truckmount-video.html

I don't think i'll have much problem getting customers as I have a large client base already for window cleaning. I will attend a carpet cleaning course first although I have a good idea how it's done, I'd prefer to know exactly what's involved.

don't worry about pump servicing, load of aftersales bull easy to replace and under £150 quid anyway

Colin

Glad you pointed that out! ;D For one minute I thought after sales that will cost you ???

I prefer Customer service a series of activities designed to enhance the level of customer satisfaction :D

Think you will find that all these high out put pumps need servicing. Personally throw away job and renew more cost effective. :'(
