« on: December 03, 2005, 02:46:00 pm »
HI FOLKS,I AM NEW TO THIS FORUM, IVE HAD A GOOD LOOK THROUGH IT AND FOUND SOME FANTASTIC TIPS ON W.F.P
I INTEND TO BUY ONE IN THE NEAR FUTURE,IVE HAD A GOOD LOOK AT MOST OF THE SUPPLIERS AND FOUND THAT GARDINER POLE SYSTEMS SEEM TO BE THE MOST REASONABLE IN PRICE. A COMPLETE R/O SYSTEM WITH 30FT POLE COMES IN AT £966.00 INC V.A.T. SO MY QUESTION IS, IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE USING THIS SYSTEM, AND CAN YOU GIVE ANY FEEDBACK GOOD OR BAD. OR ALTERNATE SYSTEMS AROUND THIS PRICE RANGE ??? THE SYSTEM I WILL USE IS R/O SYSTEM IN GARAGE WITH HOLDING TANK.

Hi Jeff

Like you I am considering this system and intend to purchase within the next couple of weeks.

Any independent comments from those who have used the system already would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Steve

There are so many good companies out there

What i did was - i got my pole from ionics they are very helpful and have always given me good advice, got my ro from R-O man,  learnt i lot off Matts DIY site.  I have also got the Pure Freedom trolley plus pole from Andrew Mc Cann.
I also have got a backpack which are very good and i have just ordered the Autobrush from Peter Fogwill to save water.

Bought first pole & brush from Ionics (30  ft residential pole )  & 12 ft pole  from Window Cleaning Warehouse with Vikan brush.   Better jets on Vikan  but the Ionics brush is better but with lousy jets.

Gardiner poles would have been cheaper even though they are Exel poles &  I could have had a custom made one

I have got a ionics residential monofilament brush head with large jets great for flooding the windows .It would be better if it had a thicker brush.

Also got a Brodex proffesional with tiny jets ,not very good for lifting of the window for rinsing so i rinse with the brush  without lifting as they blast water everywhere like a pressure washer. The brush is a bit bent so i butchered it to make it smaller.

I have seen the gardiner pole seems good but they use vikan brushes, which i am not a fan of.

Pj    ;D Like your style man

my advice try Salmon Brush, Vikan is the tetra pack of the brush world in my opinion. maybe try www.window-tools.com for this, they add a device onto theirs to turn the water on automatically which works pretty well in most cases. i also like fan jets, it sprays water like when you put your finger over the end of a hose pipe!

Ben

ps, David, good to see your old picture back. Is that you in New York or something?

they're polyester. what is that the same as nylon? the bristles aren't straight like most, they're 'crinkle cut', yet stiffer than vikan. see my post on 'seeing red with vikan brush' thread of a few days ago 4 geeky analysis!

Hi David@St.Ives

Have you tried the latest Vikan brushes, They have improved the softness of the bristles they now scrub the window better, they seem to melt onto the glass surface, a great improvement over the old version also they have splayed the bristles out so that they reach corners better. Using both types back to back the new ones are much better. They made these improvements specifically for the WFP industry.

They have been in circulation for about 3 months.

I have stopped my Vikan brushes from leaving the red marks, it was easy, I just cut the red rubber surround off.
