No of households
« on: November 20, 2011, 02:33:32 pm »
Hi everyone,

I am about to start leafleting in a new area and was wondering if there is a way of finding out the exact No/type of householdes in each street of my targeted area. I remeber someone posted similar info on here a while ago.

Any info most appreciated!

Emil

Go and have a look?!!  Can't be that far away otherwise wouldn't be worth leafleting there.

Surely you know the area you live in?

Forget Scientific annalists find streets that look like your target market and stop thinking do it.

Once you have streets you may need post codes  if you are employing a distribution company.

But if you have no customers do it yourself and if you think people are in Knock on door

Thanks guys, If a take the google maps route i'll probably end up counting houses than dropping leaflets :)
I was thinking of using a guy I know, he is currently unemployed so should be good for both of us.
The reason why i want to know the number of households is to determine an area of approximately 1000 households a day and give my guy a map of that area. I am sure i've seen a thread where someone mentioned a website that does it for you and is completely free. It just that I can't recall it :-[

Cheers

Unless your guy is extremely fit he will find 1000 a day tough going.  Better for him to work in 3 or 4 hour stretches

Hi Ian, both me and my guy together did 1200 leaflets today in 4 hrs, I couldn't feel my feet afterwards. I don't think anyone should leaflet longer than that in a day. Not to mention the boredome.
Hopefuly this will bring some work in.

Cheers

Maybe, maybe not.

One-off leafleting is hit and miss; it's generally stated that you need to keep up a regular regime of dropping them in the saem area at set intervals, ib order to place yourself in peoples' minds

However, and I've proved this, if you hit an area that doesn't get any carpet cleaning leaflets on a regular basis, and you've co-incided with a few people on the day they looked at their carpets and though "hmm must do something about this"..... who knows.

By the way I'm curious, is that just a random turquoise polo shirt or a ServiceMaster one?!

Thanks Simon, 2% sounds pretty good to me. Is that calls or actual jobs?

Jim, it's just randomly picked colour, nothing to do with service master.
With regards to the leaflets, i have 10 000 at the moment and have targeted some afluent areas around me. I intend to hit the same areas in 6 weeks time, and then another drop 6 weeks after, and so on. I noticed ysterday another company's leaflets but they were nothing to do with mine...i mean 1 colour, cheap looking leaflet, no offers, no photos, etc. So hpefuly mine will get noticed.

Cheers

You CHOOSE to wear such a garish colour?! :D

Anyway good luck with the leaflet campaign mate, remember to keep it all recorded so you can examine your stats 8)

Been wearing one for some time, but just recently switched to purple polo shirt/grey hoody, both printed.

Hi Emil,

2% booked jobs, in fact I don't recall ever having a call from a leaflet job that didn't convert to a job.

Once again good luck.
