GROUPON FOR PRESSURE WASHING
« on: November 12, 2011, 01:26:46 pm »
i know a lot of people do not like groupon but has any one done a groupon advert for pressure washing???

just looking at past deals if you could get 200 jobs say at £40-50 do you think it could work, im thinking of doing a deal so that i have a lot of work thru winter when weather to bad to window clean in, also repeat business and further business from neighbours etc could be good with a large amount of work from groupon at normal prices

crazy man...weather to bad to window clean but ok to presure wash eh??

jes please look at your outlays forget time spent on job .. cost of machine, (professional washer petrol or diesel) fuel travelling + machine, insurance blah blah.....  repeat business for custys to pay jack all ...£40 job you get what £15-20 take off fuel alone and ur left with ??

Contrary to one of my previous posts can possibly see it working for gutter vacuuming as you can easily upsell i.e. rest of upvc But keep it quite dont tell ryscal  ;D ;D
 but pressure washing please...

We just did a job first day fuel outlay alone £140 - 2 vans aprox £40 each (obviously not filled up!) 2 jerry cans petrol 1 diesel each day after £40 fuel for machines cost in original quote but groupon.. no way

I agree.

Don't do it Richy. Redstar regrets doing it. He couldn't cope with it and lost money trying to keep up with them to do them around other calls that came in. He ended up switching his phone off and ignoring them 'cos he couldn't make money from it. A lot of angry people claiming their money back.

Plus you would have a 2 month wait. That's how it was for him.

Agree, leave it alone Richy,
Why would you want to work for 50% less then you would usually charge knowing that the other 50% is going to someone else for doing very little imo.

another big concern with groupon, which i havent seen mentioned...... u start a groupon campaign ... what happens when your current customers (i.e. on your database ) see the deal you are offering  ??? ???
Why should they be paying the 'going rate' whilst you are offering this discounted deal on groupon  ??? ???

mike roberts: the deal only runs for one day so your current customers most likely wont see it. the coupon can then be redeemed over the next 3/4 months if i understand it correctly.

you don't lose 50%, you lose at least 75%, because you give 50% off immediately at least (often they require even more off) and then whatever is left you lose 50% of that.

for carpet cleaning in my area we HAD to give 70% off and then a further 50% of that went to groupon so in total £15 instead of £100 for a customer that wont go for a deal lower then 70%. no thanks

i looked into it and your are right but they wanted me to offer 60% off so for example if it was £100 that would be offered for £40 then out of that £40 it is subject to 20% vat so that went down to £33.33 and then groupon take 50% of that leaving £16.65. no thanks not for me

and the reason they give for it having to be 60% off and not 50% is because the customers wont do it for anything less. not exactly ideal then if they already don't want to pay 50% off
