I cant speak for other people, only myself, Im always interested to hear what people do for jobs.  Its interesting to know.  Always inquisitive.  If somebody said window cleaning or cleaning, I would question myself to find out more, about the company - you can say one job title but it dosent give away much.

What do you say when people ask you what you do?

If someone asks me, i say im a window cleaner, as that is 100% accurate. I either get a strange look from them, like their embarrased or something, or i get a `aww thats good for you ' response ' we need a window cleaner, have you got a card?” with no real intention of actually using your services, but to humour you in the moment.

What they dont realise is in one day i can make more than they can in a whole week, plus some more if i work harder.

I feel sorry for those ones that are given fancy job titles, from their employer just to keep them thinking they are more than they really are.

Nope im happy just being known as a window cleaner.

It's the sort of question that comes up a lot on holiday,I don't get embarassed at all saying I'm a window cleaner,I also don't feel the need to say I run my own business.

When I owned limos and rollers people thought I was wedged. Now I own a cleaning business I don't get the same response. Quite funny really as I earn more money in this game

People have no clue, let them make their own assumptions!

I was actually thinking along the lines of what Helen just said.  Nothing to feel any different to what other people do for jobs.  Not sure why it would bother you Dave?  People warm to people, whatever industry your in..

When I was in the army, and some lass asked what I did, I told them I was a window cleaner, 'cos I had more chance of getting my wicked way with them. 

Well, apart from that bint who said she'd never 'do' a squaddie because they were stupid, yet she believed I worked on the Trident Nuclear Missile project as a civil servant.  I told her in the morning that I was in the army, just before I did a runner.  She wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer!

But another tack to take is to say that at an ultimate level, you do not even exist as a person, never mind a window cleaner, but you'd have to learn some Buddhist philosophy to back that statement up.
