Its been a while
« on: October 29, 2011, 07:15:06 am »
Hi Folks,

Its been a while since I have been on here. Only on here to day as I am up due to the kids...Oh an finally my weekends are coming back to me...at last ;D

I see its the same as ever, same questions and the same answers.

But I guess to be fair there is only so much you can ask about cleaning

Ive really just posted to catch everyone to say :

I know a fair few of you have been emailing me. Keep them coming and if I have not replied bare with me. I am getting through them slowly. I will reply. If I have missed you just fire it off again.

Its been a hectic year really for us. Mainly due to change of direction. And I have to say for the better. I have sold most of our business and just kept the odd few contracts. Some staff have remained - as they wanted a change of direction as well and they wanted to stay with us. Well the ones that I could use anyway. ;)

Just as small note selling a business is a mind field I don't know if I will do that again even though I had a company organise it.

Ill pop in now and then.

Hi BDCS,

The new line is Painting and Decorating.

I wanted my weekends back as well and the wife has been going through cancer. So It was time to spend more time with the family than getting the money. Its not as if I need the money.

They were the main reasons for selling up. However during the process it got me thinking and I told a few of the clients as well (Politely of course).

We never really got a "Thank you" from any one but always quick to jump in and complain if a bin was missed etc.

However since we have been Painting and Decorating which has been in the pipe line for a few years and we have been slowly building the client base up both residential and commercial. I have to say every client has said "Thank You" or "What a great job" .

Ive got years and years in the P&D and all my side of the family are builders and I grew up with it with my father so its not new to me. The hours are better and you stop and start when you like..

We also perform HVLP spraying as well so its going well.

Good luck selling bouncy castle business.

You probably are aware but any business is only worth what someone is willing to give you. We were lucky that we had a business and a proven revenue and contracts tied in for 5 years. Kind of played crafty. All of our clients renewed. Once that was in place it was time to sell. We also had the a set number of vans and about 70 + staff and only retained about 8 staff from that to move over to P&D.

All the best Dave

Hi Pristine

You are so right when you say, no one ever says thank you, plus you spend your whole time saying sory to customers when its not even your fault....

Good luck with the painting and decorating.

Hi Woods,

Yes I am... probably the only thing ive been right on.  :D

You are right as well, I have said sorry plenty of times even when it was not our fault. On the last I never said sorry. I went out of my way to prove it was them.

Its strange is not? Any other trade like P&D or Gardening, Mechanic, Office staff or window fitter generally get a "Thank You"

Why oh why do cleaners NOT get a "Thank You". I know my cleaning staff did work hard to achieve the results they got for my company and it paid off.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the bits and pieces we bought from you.

Also for the good contact - Debbie - we have done a fair amount of work for her.

Good luck
