Hello all, does any 1 use a better setup (identical becos im used to this) for a  8mm mini bore hose and metal tap, with rectus 21 connectors to 5mm pole hose? as i find they are a bit s**t, also does anyone know anywhere that u can buy the metal tap heads alone because they break easy?? cheers

Don`t use retus 21 they are crap use retus 19 far more robust. as far a the tap goes I use the the round toggle on the flexi goose neck and glue the in with epoxy glue.\To replace leaver of the tap.

Rectus 19 are much better, less leaks & much tougher (a little bigger though). Rectus 26 are the same design as the 19's but are brass, so if you can get em they're the best IMO.

Tried hoselocks they leak and are terrible so defo don't reccomend them if that helps.

I found by not unclipping rectus 21 fittings all the time they last at least 10 times longer.

now use about 3 a year per person instead of 1 or 2 a month

Leaving them contected to the tap of hose reel saves not only time it saves money, which I guess is a result either way you look at it.

I tried out the hozelock type ones. I bought them off ebay really cheap and thought if they didn't last not to worry but I have to admit they last quite a while. the one fitted now has been in use for about 9 months now and is still going strong. It has amazed me and will continue to use them now as they are more cost effective for me

Hozelok for me, nearly 8 years with no problems, or leaks!

You just need to replace the rubber O rings now & then. I use a small protecta ball on the end of the hose, this stops it disconnecting as I pull it across the ground.

On the end of my minibore-

I've used quite a few Andy, I'm currently using genuine HL but the old style, I find the newer style disconnect too easily. B&Q's own budget one's (blue) are great & only £1.

My entire twin DI system is fitted with the newer style genuine HL's & I have zero leaks.

You can get them from just about any wfp supplier

They allow you to fit a short piece of normal 1/2" hose to to your mini/microbore so you can then fit the hozelock connector.

For the male on my pole hose I use one of these as it gives protection to the female. I used to use slim alloy ones but being slimmer than the female, the female would dig in & disconnect as you pull the hose.

hey wimpo took your advice and been using the gardiners red mono for the last three weeks . great so far half the weight of the equivalent vikan . miles better over connys . the mrs is now sweeping the cave out with yhe vikan  no sign of it falling apart yet , if it gets to easter might send you an egg
