we can all make a nice living without using trad , But the guy who cleans the shop could have earned £20 extra by doing the insides .

Perhaps in the time he would have taken to do the inside trad he was off earning £30 WPFing another outside.

It took about 15 minutes to do the inside of the shop for £20 , the only reason the guy didnt do the insides is that he cant trad .

I did some trad yesterday, I'm crap at it  ;D  But it takes time to master like all skills, I'm using the Ninja kit and I did find it very hard to not slip over the edge of the frame and off the glass when using that soft rubber.

I'll get better at it in time, either that or I'll go out with Big Bob the window cleaner for some proper lessons, I'll be an expert in a day.... or dead  ;D

I left them windows clean inside and out but it took me quite a long time, I don't get paid to be quick just proper  ;)  I now have to go back and do the gutters, the painting in the eves and several DIY jobs up that street, so it was worth taking my time and being seen I guess.

Practice practice is the answer, the minute we stop learning is the time we stop earning  ;)

The great thing about being a trad w/c for a good few years before wfp came along is that you have a much better idea when it comes to cleaning windows using wfp.

I still do some places trad style though but I charge extra for it.

I have a contract job next week that is due, it is all internal and done trad, I get more for it than the wfp guy that does the outsides, I am wfp as well, but I do the insides quicker than they do the outsides ??? there are some slow wfp operators out there ;D and the best bit is I just look at weather forecast and pick the worst day weather wise and go do it then, and it is lovely and warm in that office and pays well too :D

hmmm another one with anger issues.

whether you think it is acceptacle or not you can make
a perfectly good living these days window cleaning without
having to pick a blade up.
i decided a couple of years ago i was going to dictate
the way i work, apart from the occasional problem window
i dont blade.

i also dont complain about bad weather i enjoy cleaning
out in it,i will be out working when a lot of the girlies on
here are crying into their scrim ;D

i enjoy what i do and how i do it so why would i
bother doing something that makes me miserable
charging more would make no odds to me
on that score and to be honest i have no need to.

but hey! if wfp came to a end tomorrow i would more
or likely pick up a blade and just get on with it.

i certainly wouldnt be crying into my brush or worse
still stamping my feet and pathetically hurling abuse
at people because the world wasnt revolving the way
i wanted it to.

oh poor you! :)

What a cock. Why does it bother you so much what others do (or don't do)?

Trad is not using them new-fangled "squeegee" things.  Proper traditional window cleaning is with a leather and scrim >:(

I remember the first time I used a squeegee on a London School, the school keeper took one look and said "Yer can b****r off! Yer can't clean winders wiv sticks!!"

It couldn't be done these days, though.  Like everything else, there's no such thing as a decent leather or real scrim anymore.

In those days I was in black and white, hovis in one hand and a real hemp scrim and leather in the other. Sigh. Those were the days.

As for the 'real scrim'. Scrim was originally hemp sack cloth because hemp is stronger when it's wet than dry. The scrims I use are made from high grade hemp and I've had the same 12 cloths for about 8 years.
