buying work
« on: November 11, 2005, 11:11:23 pm »
I am trying to build a 6 weekly round.I am probably 3/4 of the way there now and an established ggguy in my area has offered me some work to buy as he wants to downsize a little, he has just over £100 per weeks worth to sell off at a price of £1000. Is it wise to buy it? Yt would just about sort out my regular bread and butter income and it means he wouldn't be selling to an outsider-therefore cutting down the risk of more opposition.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
ps
He has offered me to spend a day with him next week to view some of the work, and I know his rates are pretty fair.

£100 per week = £400 per 4 weeks yes? If so = £1000 = 2.5 times times the monthly amount. On the face of it that sounds reasonable to me.

I doubt he will be selling his better stuff though, eh? ;)
It's a game of three halves!

hints on buying work are at www.window-cleaning.biz

I have bought loads of work over the years the main thing is to make sure of what you are buying. Insist on personal introductions to all customers and get him to do a letter introducing you.
Why not make him an offer on his price?

personally i think if they guy wants to sell

then you are only giving him a "goodwill gesture", thus i think 1 X the amount is enough, thats 400 quid

i brought some work late last year, now its allmost all gone, it seems the guy B4 me would just turn up as and when he liked, so my 6 weeks is too early for them and 12 is too late, so a fair few cancelled me, i dont mind, its not because of the standard of work i do, its just i am regular
