Robin,
The risk is lurking round the corner, waiting for the unsuspecting and untrained
For a start, someone mentioned green pads which are coarser than recommended for Amtico/Karndean. Blue is the coarsest recommended, red probably the safest all-rounder. Yes I have used black pads on Amtico before but only on a floor that's trashed already.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, if any tiles are not installed correctly and have lifted a little, you can make the problem a lot worse.
But those things are not super high risks to be honest. Most of all, where you could "go wrong" is to make a complete arse of the job, leaving it looking awful and without a properly applied finish which will fail prematurely.
I do loads of this type of work and very often the customers have "had a go" themselves or got someone in who has bodged it.
If the prep work is no good, and if you don't apply the sealer to the floor with a certain degree of skill, the finished result will look absolute pants and not be durable or long lasting
