with private work, use wfp dwnstairs too?
« on: November 09, 2005, 08:41:19 pm »
am a newcomer to the water fed pole system, and have just bought a trolley system. am interested in knowing if other window cleaners with wfp, clean downstairs with poles or not?  and also what their customers think? have tried doing downstairs traditionally to compromise, but dripping is nightmare.
appreciate comments
cheers  :D

Benji,
i use WFP for all my residential work, never had a complaint. If your going to do the downstairs i'd get a mini pole,i use a 4-8 foot pole. Got it from omnipole. Its much easier than  trying to use your longer pole, especially were space is limited.

Hi Benji

i also have a trolley sysem and i do the downstairs by hand what i do is all of the upstairs first and by trhe time i have got back to the front to do the bottoms have usually stopped dripping.
i do the downstairs tradional just as a compromise for my csm,s plus i can only carry 300l of water and usually by the end of the day i will get very low on water.
i also have csm,s that will only let me clean with the wfp they find it a better clean in that they stay cleaner for longer , also if at the end of the day i have water left i will clean the houses up/down with the wfp some of my csm don,t mind some are a bit funny i just make sure i do the funny ones wfp up trad down it,s no big problem and it,s still a little quicker but a hell of a lot safer

darren......

I got myself a backpack just to do the upstairs windows.
I found after a few days of using it i was cleaning downstairs also.
Looking at getting a shorter pole now as the 18foot pole i use it a bit awkward at times.
After the 1st clean with the pole you will find you will use less water the next time round.
1st time i used a ladder today in about a month just to get to a window on a flat roof i couldn't reach with pole.
Find it so easy and quick to use the pole plus alot SAFER.
That impressed with it i've got a van coming in 2 or 3 weeks and want to fit it out with a pole system.
As for customers i haven't had anyone complain as i told them about the new regs but highlighted the safety side of it.
Have taken taken on a few new accounts since i got the pole and know some have switched to me as the w/c they have won't clean the frames.
I finished a clean today before the 2 w/c's opposite finished there clean.
There windows were clean but the frames weren't.

i sold the WFP on WAHD, they seem to like the detail and time you take on the downstairs

Matt:no detailing just dogear your blade and take the surface water off let the rest dry, ;D best when there nearly dry like in summer or on windy days.just give them a good clean go around the house as normal and give them a bladeing on your way back around to the front.do this a couple of cleans then wfp as norm,

I mostly do 1st floor with WFP and do ground floor traditonally.  Rather, Wor Lass does ground floor traditonally.

However, I rarely use a squeegie these days, so if she's not working with me; I do 99% of windows with the WFP.

Don't give your customers the impression that you only do 1st floor with WFP because it's safer and still cleans the windows; yet you can't get better than a squeegie.

If I don't do ground floor with my WFP I apologise and say it's because I can't carry the weight of pure water!  Indicating that I'm sorry for giving them a second class service!
