hi guys. been putting nice leaflets out with gutter va pics on but not getting much response. all the areas are tree lined avenues with loads of leaves in gutters etc. just find there is not much interest in gutter cleaning.

The disadvantage gutter cleaners face is that their work usually offers no cosmetic advantage to the custy's house (unless you clean the outside of the gutters too). Faced with a choice between having the front door painted and having the gutters cleared out the painting usually wins hands down - because it's visual.

BUT stick with it. The leaves aren't down yet and many houses with no trees nearby still need their gutters cleaning (moss, silt, birds mess etc). A lot of people only want it doing when water starts coming over the edge and we haven't had a lot of rain lately so be patient. This is the beginning of the big season.

Keep putting your leaflets out as massively as you can (ie thousands) and you will start to see a response.

Go out when its raining and tell them the gutters overflowing and ask if they want a quote. If they ask why canvass when its raining say its because you then only disturb people who genuinly require your services

im a little confused with these gutter vac systems do most of you just clear the gutters out & move on to the next one, or do you clean them as well?
when i quote i quote for clearing them out and cleaning them i use good old fashioned ladders (not everyone's favorite i know) but i only do domestics,
i can see the benifit on industrial / commercial premisis as they probley just want them cleaning out,
but on domestics surely customers want it all cleaning as well

It depends on what the customer asks for which again depends on what they deem to be their problem. If the water pours over them when they walk out the door then they want it cleared but if they ask for the full monty then do both. I usually pressure wash them with the pole but also have no objections to ladders work should it be required. WFP is another option which I have but for the investment shy obviously options will be limited

i once tried pressure washer & pole to clean gutters over a conservatory on low pressure but customer's naibour moaned water was going on her washing
i use drain rods with gutter scrap end over conservatorys & clean with 5meter harris pole from the ground, the rest i do by ladder & hand.
