Yes.No. (washing machines also have water pumps)I also know of someone who mixes comfort with water in a spray bottle and mists in the air and on the carpet afterwards, another cheaper way of 'deodorising' It actually does the job really well....
If a customer see's the tech mixing the extraction powder with water ( eg powerburst etc) it will look just like soap powder to her She does not know any difference.Wet for days , then that is down to the tech as she will know the difference there.

Washing powder or Bold Gel can be used to clean nylon carpets (not wool) with brilliant results. This is the same stuff we all use on a daily basis to clean our nylon clothes.
