Veriflow?what setting.
« on: November 02, 2005, 07:47:07 pm »
What setting do you use your Veriflow on? I use a Surflow 60psi pump but find that I only need to have the Variflow dial in the 9 o'clock position, that's only about a quarter of the available power. This being the case why would anyone need a 100psi pump? Should I be running it faster? This is important as I may be taking too long to rinse on beading glass. It's not really practical to keep going to the trolley to turn it up for rinsing. would be greatfull for your thoughts guys. Dai

Hi Dia

Don't take this wrong but are you trying to cut down on water use too much?

I say this because with a higher flow rate I find I use about the same as a low flow. Reason = I work faster. A decent flow cleans well and you spend far less time ( and therefore water ) rinsing. I experimented with different ( low ) flow rates and found not only was it taking me too long I wasn't getting a decent rinse and I wasn't saving anything on water use.

Hope this helps

Andrew

Mines set at abot 11 o clock its the mark facing the V

With a 100psi Shurflow, like Paul I run mine around the 11o'clock setting for most work.  Higher for first cleans.

Also depends on the jet sizes not just the control position.  I use fan jets from Cleantech.

Talking about variflow has anyone had the on off button sticking.

For the last two weeks mines been sticking so have to pull it back out a bit.

Thinking of spraying with a bit of WD 40 but not sure if it would damage it.

yes mine sticks too i have the one with the small black button and also have the upgraded larger button on my other system which is much better  The smaller button one has lost its button so it is a real struggle to grap the stub especialy with it sticking .
I think we should wait for more answers then contact williamsons with this problem to see if they can do a fix for this problem.
I will keep my eye on this thread and contact them with the findings

Thanks guys.I think I have it set too low. The point on setting it higher and doing the job faster makes sense. I will try it when I get it back from williamsons.
I hardly ever use the on off button. I fitted a simple toggle switch on the top of the pumpbox. It cuts the feed from the battery to the Variflow. It is easier to get to than opening the pump box where the unit is located.
I found that with the flow turned down it takes ages to rinse, especially on beading panes.
The boffins are examining my Variflow. They have sold a thousand of them and mine is only the second one to go wrong. This has not been a good week. DAi

Every thing went wrong with it.
1] green light on but wouldn't start pump.
2] came on but ran at boost no matter where I set the dial.
3] ran flat out when swiched off and green light out.
4] started very slowly and gradually picked up speed to boost without any adjustment being made.
Williamsons told me that it was only the second one that had gone wrong out of a thousand sold. The other one had a small wire broken inside.
I was considering buying another for a spare, They told me that as they went wrong so infrequently there was no point.
I see that Cleantec are now selling them for £75 so may invest in a spare.
It's no consellation them going wrong so infrequently if your stuck and can't work. DAi

Sticking Buttons - we are currently looking at this problem you guys are having.

Are the problems on the original "small" button or the new "chunky" button on the Mk2 Varistream?

Andrew

I remember phoning them to ask if their back pack price was inclusive of VAT.  It wasn't.

Nor Delivery.
