Is the price to high?
« on: October 31, 2005, 09:35:54 pm »
Just quoted a house today with 60 windows £30 for a 4 week clean.
I also quoted her £70 if it was a 8 week clean.
She thought the price was a bit high but said they never had a w/c before.
I will be using wfp to do the job but do you think the £70 was a bit high?

Ouch!
Thats only 50p a window!
Been a while since I was that cheap, you will make on the deal because you are WFP, but that is still rather low.
Rather depends on how you count up your windows too, i.e. do you break up even the large ones into standard size windows, or do you simple count up each window?
A price of my own would have been at least £50, utterly regardless of the location too.

I just counted windows.
There was quite a few small ones aswell as big so i tried to even it out.
When i first worked it out it was around the £60 mark but as there was a few smallish windows i new they wouldn't pay that.
The job itself should only take about an hour so £30 for an hours work down here can't be sniff at.
Perhaps i should just stick to my guns and walk away if they don't like my first price. I just don't like walking away from a job.

I dont really get this one. You charge £30 to clean them every 4 weeks, but £70 if every eight? This means she would save a tenner by having then done every month.
Why would she ever go for an 8 week clean. DAI

Hi,

£30 monthly  £40-45 by-monthly?. Personlly I would rather £40-45 by- monthly. But if I priced it up @ £30 monthly & the customer said that they are only prepared to have it cleaned by-monthly then I would clean it for £30 if she insisted.  all depends on how much you want the job.

I have customers next to each other some are monthly some by-momthly, same stlye house who all pay the same price.

it is just about right ,if it is £30.00 for 1 hours work ,well that is a very good price in my eyes  ;) whatever the amount of windows.

Hi Dave,

Yer that £30 monthly is great but its the £70 by-monthly that is the problem here.

Thought i was pushing my luck with the £70.
Not been going fulltime for long so still learning. Just seems to be a mixed response when it comes to pricing.
I suppose it all comes down to what the customer is prepaired to pay at the end of the day. Plus where in the country you live.

I agree with Jay £1.00 a window
When i first became a window cleaner 19 years ago the chap i was working for was charging 50p a window then.
