One of my proudest moments
« on: October 07, 2011, 11:45:37 am »
Had a real minger today, carpet was in a bit of a state, but not as much as the house in general  :o

Gave the CRB it's first proper outing, and quite impressed with the results  :)

That was a bloody good prev-vac, prespray hot Ultrapac (with Citraboost mixed in), agitated with Truxox Multiwash CRB, 10 min dwell, then extract using F&F Rinse and the TM - followed by a quick brush with a broom.

Whole thing took 45 minutes from pulling up to driving away, and customer was happy as I had told her that the 6 month old yoghurt stain (which I don't think had even been cleaned in any way) was likely to leave a mark but it came out fine.

Really good Ash!! do you inject the fibre and fabric at the TM or do you spray it on as you extract ?

Its in the solution tank at the TM. I would have used F90 as it was a synthetic and I've got a load of it, but F&F was already in the tank.

Wow... how much FFR do you have to put in your tank? isnt it difficult to work out and expensive?

I thought about trying this..

Pre spray
agitate
dwell time
FFR sprayed on the carpet before extracting

I wonder if this would be enough to bring the PH down before rinsing?

Either that or rinse first and then FFR spray with a pump sprayer and finish with a brush?

If this works it must save loads of chemical and money

Nice job Ash.  I bet you had a quick sniff of those knickers ;D ;D

Not sure if it's a different level of sunlight or something but the carpet actually looks a completely different colour after cleaning!!

Russ it's much more efficient, quicker and uses no more product when you feed a rinse chemical through your machine in the normal way ;)

If you spray it on top before extracting it's not getting in to contact with the carpet fibres properly, so would be pretty useless... unless you really doused the carpet, in which case using MORE product, taking much longer and getting the carpet wetter!

For the purpose of neutralising with acidity I rarely use the recommended dose in the chemical feed, much weaker usually, because the high volume of water flushed through by the TM leaves very little neutralising to do.

I'm with you on that Jim, what I do quite often is mix the solution to the recommended level, then when its half empty I just top it up with water.

As for the different colour - I know, even I was surprised how much different it looks (and no, it hasn't been through Photoshop!).

As for the knickers, I threw them against the wall, where they stayed whilst I was cleaning!

Ive started doing jobs for a property company in Newcastle who specialise in student accomodation. They asked me to go clean the carpets of a young lads bedroom who had literally been in 24 hours. I opened his bedroom door and I kid you not his clothes were 3 foot deep on the carpet (inc dirty underwear). Right underneath it all was a pink vibrator - the only thing i didnt pick up - it was kicked underneath the bed!

Students, bless em! Wonder if it was a his or hers?

That's what bothered me about this house, it was a single mum with a young child.

230-400ml in the jug, flow set to 2. Even though thats not strong enough as per the label, it nutralises just fine

Nice and cheap

Just used the CRB for the second time, I must say it makes a huge difference. After a prevac & prespray, quick run over with the crb and 95% of the work is done!

I think that a CRB in some form or another is a must for dealing with mingers. In this pic, the dark brown stain was urine from an elderly gentleman - it practically disappeared when I went over it with the machine.

Nice job. Not being picky but i think it looks ugly when you don't rake the pile. It only takes a few moments and as well as getting rid of those unsighlty wand marks, it does ensure the fibres are leaning the same direction when drying.

How long did that room take to do using your method?
