Hi Sarah

Thanks for the update.

I'll experiment on our house and a neighbours when it arrives.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday.

Hi Jeff,

Since that post in October he is now confident enough in his technique not to have to check but I agree it woulod be a good tool to have as proof to the customer.  Will check on ebay later.  Thanks.   ;)

Our wish list piece of kit would be the Omnivac which I understand will include a monitor as you have stated.  From what I remember last Sept it was over £1200 and unfortunately there is always something else I would like to have instead. (Onmivac or Holiday, Onmivac or new suite, Omnivac or facelift !!!...  the list goes on.)  ::)

Steve,

You have probably read this in one of my previous posts but dont forget to angle the lance at about 40 deg towards the downpipe as you are pulling it towards you.  Keep it as near to the floor of the gutter as possible - that way you will minimise the water and debris spilling over the top.

Finally, before you start make sure there are no mesh covers at the top of the downpipe or you'll be just moving the problem and not clearing it.

Have fun with the new toy Steve and if I can be of any further help just ask,

Sarah

Hi Sarah

Sorry, I've just thought of a further question.

Do you use the lance to clean the external part of the gutter?

At the moment I use the WFP to clean the external part of uPVC gutters and also to clean uPVC soffit and fascia boards.

Thanks.

I have thought before that a small 12V TV camera (which start from about £60)  mounted on a pole would be ideal for inspecting guttering without having to use a ladder.
Used in conjunction with a gutter lance it would enable the operator to see what was up there before starting and afterwards to check his work. Perhaps one of our boffins would be interested in taking up the challenge.

Steve,

If we are cleaning the insides of the gutters and are asked to wash the outside we simply click off the hook attachments and blast the outsides.  Make sure you hold the end of the lance quite a distance away as they are powerful enough to shatter brittle Upvc gutters and cladding.

If its only an outside gutter clean then we use our wfp system as we keep an old Vikan Brush head for this job to avoid contamination with the water for w/c.

Enjoy the rest of the BH tinkering Steve. ;D

Thanks,  I was begining to sound like I was lance bashing on my own again  :P

For the outlay its an invaluable piece of kit and as for the safety factor - well that speaks for itself  ;D

hi Sarah, one quick question . Does the client not need or want the outside of the guttering cleaned. Most of the people I,ve had so far were more interested in the outside of the guttering been cleaned.

Ray,

We do both as two seperate services.  Our biggest earner is cleaning the ' inside ' of the guttering.  Getting out the moss, plant growths, broken tiles/concrete etc.

Cleaning the Upvc undersides/fascias/sofits etc are a different service but  often combined when cleaning the inside AT AN EXTRA COST.  ;D

As I said previously if the customer wants the outsides done we do it with our wfp as you dont really need the power of the pressure washer which runs the lance.

Lots of potential as is seasonal patio/wall and driveway blasts !!!!!

Sarah had a look at the omnipole gutter setup= is this not just an industrial wet and dry, and could you not just buy the gutter attachment from omnipole and use your present pole

as for camera at one of the motorbike outing one of the lads had a small camera on the front of the bike, it was really small and a cable going to his video camera in the back of his bike.I dont think he paid much for it about £30

try maplins  and ask the bike shops hope this helps
