Steam cleaner for oven cleaning?
« on: October 01, 2011, 04:57:40 pm »
I apologise if this is in the wrong place, but it seems as if quite a few carpet cleaners also do ovens.

Anyway, enough apologising ... on to the question:

Has anyone or does anyone use steam generators like this one on the inside of the oven?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vax-Grime-Master-Handheld-Cleaner/dp/B004J3585G/ref=sr_1_6?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1317484083&sr=1-6

The feedback shows that many people have used one for oven cleaning among other things and been chuffed with it. I can imagine that used in conjunction with the proper chemicals and a bit of light scraping it would make light work of even the most burnt-on stuff.

Being made by Vax it should be pretty decent quality and not fall apart the first time you use it. And it's not too expensive, either.

Tried it with a steamer, load of rubbish, save your money....

Can't beat the good old vanquish and window cleaner's scraper IMO....

Thanks for that, Colin.

Have you got round to trying the Dirtbusters cleaning chemicals yet?

I have, not really seeing the wow factor so far, but I will give it a fair crack of the whip....

The tank booster was brilliant on aluminium gas rings I have to say, but I'm back to scrubbing shelves which I haven't had to do for about 2 years now. It's all Eco friendly and I told my customer that this morning, he just said "You can use plutonium for all I care mate, I just want a clean oven....!"  ;D

I ended up using Astonish to finish the job off and cleaned the stainless steel fan and nut with Vanquish and a paint brush. Came up like brand new.... :)

For every 20 litres of water, mix 500ml of vanquish (ACS LTD, St Albans) and 500ml of Brillo Degreaser (Booker).... Works like a dream....
