slx 30 positive stop end gone?
« on: October 01, 2011, 09:23:40 am »
so the top section on my new slx 30 has become stiff this last week and it got to the point yesterday where it was very very stiff then all of a sudden it loosened up again :)

so i was relieved at first untill the stop end on that section didnt work and i just pulled "section one" straight off  ::)

at least its not stiff anymore but i just have to rememeber it wont stop on its own anymore so i dont keep pulling it off!

so my question is... anyone else had this and how do i fix it?

thanks

george

one and a half wraps of a good quality electricians tape will renew the stop on the top section then carefully re-insert into no 2 section it will be tight through the clamp, just ease it through. job done

As said above but take the clamp apart or loosen it to the max. You may need to prise open the clamp (flat head driver in where the lever bolt goes)
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

This is normal and has happened to every pole I have ever owned. The tape they use is rubbish, all the same too its not pointing the finger at any particular manufacturer.
You would have thought they would have had this sorted by now.

we have an elite pole which is designed for every section to come out

so

they put blue markers to indicate the end of the section

problem is they have all worn off in under 2 months

im now constantly over extending and dropping over 30 ft of pole

i must make some new marks on that pole!!!

No way to overcome it I'm afraid because the poles are designed to be broken down. The tape wears even faster than the pole and so either puckers up or wears away.
I have drilled a small hole as a marker in the past to indicate when to stop pulling the section out. I wouldn't recommend it though 'cos the carbon tends to splinter inside the section when the drill bit breaks through.

ah well....i bought the pole for the very reason that it breaks down...tbh its a great idea

i will just have to make some new marks on it every now and then :)
