Things needed for a van mount?
« on: September 23, 2011, 10:30:59 am »
I am doing water fed with trolley system the next step for me in a van mount, now I have a free standing 300gpd RO and 7L DI am I assuming I have somehow have these in the van then run water from and outside tap and have my water purify on board?

So then what do I need, well I know I need a Tank, but cant work and a pump is this easy to set up, plus 2 reels of mircobore hose.

I want a 650 tank.

Am i forgetting anything?

Cheers.

Instead of putting your RO/DI in the van, you can get a 1000 ltr IBC and fill your pure water into that.  You can then transfer this water into your van by using a submersible pump.  I did this, so it's easy to do.

Also, you'll need for inside your van:

Pump
Flowcontroller
Battery
Hose,
Hosereel

If you're doing a two man system, I recommend two pumps and two flow controllers, both of which you can run from one battery.

I use a leisure battery, but a lot of guys here use diesel vehicle batteries they get for a tenner from a garage.

If you can be bothered, have a look at my backposts at about March time; that's when I went van mounted and asked a boat load of questions.

Get good quality connectors - hoselock ones, not the cheap ones
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

Static always works well, and is always producing water...if its in the van its only producing water when your parked up  ;)

Yep all you need is a tank, a pump, a controller, hose and reel. And a few bits of hose inbetween and connectors.

I run my system off the van battery and have for the past 4 - 5 years without a spot of bother. I do like to put decent batteries on van, big heavy duty ones.

And if need be, you CAN run 2 reels off one pump, ive also done this now for about 3 years and no issues.

A full 650 tank will come through and break your spine like a twig in even a slow impact accident. Make sure you have it securely bolted/strapped down and if you have not got a metal bulkhead then buy one from ebay and fit that in. First and most important thing you need is common sense mate.
