Who can ever forget the the Stymvac Junior, how did they ever have the front to call it that , it was huge and you needed a forklift to get in and out of the van. 

They used to be based in Cricklewood North London, not there now cant remember the guy who ran it but then a husband and wife team took it over...

hi ya yes my machine was a big blue box on wheels, with enough dials to please a vc 10 pilot, i had to put packing under the vac to keep it sealed against the tank or it would lose suction, i ran it with 50 ft of hose once ............pete

Stimvac ARE STILL AVAILABLE and I also had one of the " boxes " the Cross American and UK versions have a similar appearance but a bit more grunt from both ends.

I had two, first one purchased in 1981. Only three dials, one for pump pressure, vac and water temp.
I had both water tanks replaced with SS ones as they soon perforated due to the strong alkaline chems in those days.
Also the eletronic waste tank cut out, module would play up, so ended up bypassing it.
Great bit of kit in its day though, sengle 3 phase vac with 50 psi pump. Kept me going for the first 17 years in this business.
The owner of Stimvac was an Asian guy by the name Mr. Ali.

My first machine was the Stimvac 'Senior' bought in 1971 brand new for £1000. Bought a second 3 years later. These were heavy pieces of equipment which split into 4 sections for ease of carrying. They came with twin 25psi water pumps together with a small blower unit as I remember.
When the 'Junior' came along a few years later it was a 'godsend'.....lighter and in just one piece. Didn't use the convential push/pull wands of today but heavy 'drag wands'
