Hi all.I've been asked to paint a shops interior and also clean the floor.The floor is those kind of thin,lino tiles which are in a bit of a state.I've been told that they don't expect miracles,just to get the worst off.I don't have experience in this so if anyone could offer advice I'd be obliged.Would I need a machine to do this and if so could you recommend one?Could anyone give me a rough idea on pricing as well?The shop floor is about 20 foot by about 40 odd.Would I price per metre or as a whole?Thanks.

Price as a whole as there are many factors that will influence the time required.

Paint spots from recent painting being one of them 

Have you got some pictures of the floor so I can better advise.

No I realised after I left I should have taken some pics.The tiles are those grey lino ones found in a lot of older style shops.Suppose they're about 12"x12" each and are very dirty and stained but they said that they don't expect them to come up like new,they just want the worst off.It's a fairly large area so I'm just struggling with getting the price right.It's one of those jobs where it could end up a nighmare if I don't charge enough so I'm tempted to go in on the high side.It's obviously a balancing act as they will just go elsewhere if I charge too much though.

What do you have in the way of equipment for cleaning the floor?

That's one of the things I'd be grateful for advice on.I'll hire a cleaner if needs be.I realise I'm coming across as clueless!The main job is the painting of the shop but I don't want to risk losing it just because I can't clean the floor properly.I'll use a mop and specialist cleaner if you think that will do a reasonable job?

A low speed scrubber & wet vac. Preferrably fitted with pads rather than brushes. Use a blue pad unless you are going to put polish coats on afterwards.

A small scrubber dryer could also be used. Again go for one with pads rather than brushes.

A good quality neutral pH cleaner should be used and rinse mopped with fresh water.

A pocket scraper can be used for gum, stickers, paint.

Where are you it might be cheaper to get someone in with the kit than hiring
