Cleaning Copper Cladding
« on: September 08, 2011, 03:20:26 pm »
Has anybody cleaned this effectively?
It is copper, but has a green coating on it.

People have been urinating and being sick on it as well as general dirt build up.

I have used bleach and a heavy duty hard surface cleaner on my test clean. It looks better, but not perfect.
What have you used on it?

Thanks

Richy

i remember dripping some HF acid on some copper roof once when i was cleaning the bricks, turned it from black/green, back to bright copper...but im guessing its not healthy for the copper in big doses..

This is not normal copper mind. It looks like it has been painted with a green paint.

is it defo green paint? Because i think copper turns green when it's been oxidised (exposed to the atmosphere and water) maybe it could be that? just a guess

Done the same but on copper pipes, makes them gleam. Also cleans up ali scaff but too strong turns it white.

It looks like this. All the copper is evenly covered, except the edges. They are still coppery.
