Working away yesterday in a little village I clean a few houses in and caretaker of local primary school wanders over says how much to do half of the school (other half acts as village hall) once a month

Prices if from 200 foot (thats where I made mistake)

6 windows and a ground floor to ceiling glass panel which had lots of little windows in it so lots of frame to clean

Thinks 20 mins work so tells her £15 once a month .

Gets there early doors this morning and took nearly 90 mins on first clean   ... not been done in over 10 years and was covered in webs ....

Would have charged 3 times on first clean if I had looked properley.

Lesson learned but all mint now for next clean - which already paid in advance

We all do it .... Next time your there, ask the caretaker for contact details for the village hall and get them

10 years in, and I still get it wrong too.  Though usually, it's 'cos I price too far the other way! 

But once you get a wide range of jobs, it gets easier, since when you're asked to do a quote you can compare a similar job you already have against it, and price accordingly.

I still think £1 per window (big or small; it averages out) works well; used with some common sense.

The way i see it though is that a School and and a good job will only get you more work regardless of the fact you think you may have priced it to cheap - get signs on your van , and whilst its parked outside the school the Mums WILL notice you.

and if you your a good looking all the better .................LOL

I haven't done it for quite a while but I'm sure it will happen again.
Although it was £15 for 90 minutes, from now on that will be a decent little job if 20 minutes is about right.  £45 per man hour for "on the glass" time is probably thereabouts.

i quoted a large house yesterday which   i quoted £35 the owner said its far to cheap and £40 they said could not beleive  it i nearly chocked. happy days mined you it is a large house they are minted

getting a lot like that lately dave,  there seems to be a lot of wc going around quoting stupid high prices  and not getting the work,  there was a windy near me who had a mim price of £15 which is fine for big houses, but he wanted it for terrave houses,  in the end jacked it in as couldnt get enough work and gave his work away

20 years in and still under price occasionally.
Though last two I priced at £35 customer remarked that the last chap charged £50 so they were happy to pay me that!
