Threads locked by someone who is not a moderator....
« on: October 26, 2005, 12:15:21 am »
Is that right?

I find that odd but it's happened on this forum with the 'a place to chat'.

I thought the terms and conditions of CIU were based on Moderators deciding.

Apparently not.

Sorry Dave, but as far as I can understand, you are not a moderator.

Actually Ross, he has been made up to a moderator of his own section!!

A PLACE TO CHAT...

Down at the bottom of the start up page of the forum page.

Now of course he must not start a turf war by locking stuff on mine and Tosh's patch >:( >:(
Cos there's two of us see, so that makes us bigger'n him 8)

Nice to see that Admin have given us an official place to chat, it'll make moderating a little easier on the window cleaning section now, and presumably the same will apply on the other sections too.
It will also mean more members from all of the sections will become more interactive too ;D

Ross

The place to chat threads get very long very quick and it is better to lock them and open another when this happens, i just took the initiative after the first place to chat as Tosh could not lock it for some reason.

Now the new section is open all place to chat posts should be posted there.

I look forward to reading your posts in new section and has Ian as already said it will make his job easier and the topics should stay more relevent.

I think that if you start a thread, then you can also lock and unlock it if you want to.  (you don't have to be a moderator)

And I thought things were simple.....

I was just a bit puzzled. Maybe Dave could have explained it a little better.

Anyway, I do agree a place to chat needs to be somewhere away from Window Cleaning Isuues and the mixing of those on other sections - that can only be good.

Cheers

Cheers mate....

You're now supposed to be offering me some words of sympathy or am I digging the hole even deeper.

I knew replying was a mistake.

Anyway... Mr Moderator of the 'a place to chat' - this posting more suited there so I will post there an appropriately worded grovel.

Cheers
