gb you need to ask yourself if it was possible you did it? do you reg take debris off your brush head? even if you dont its bloomin hard to scratch glass with wfp unless you had just dipped the brush head in crushed diamonds! you come across as a nice guy on the forum you sure their not trying it on? taking advantage of your good nature?

this is what i thought as well! i said to him on the phone... "its nearly impossible to scratch glass with wfp!"

and yes i regularly clean off my brush with my hand every few windows to keep this from ever happening!

and nah, i dont think he's trying it on, he a nice elderly bloke with a few quid, nice detatched house etc!

thanks for your input mate!

i worked in a glass factory years ago and when there was scratches on dg units they tryed to buff them out they spent thousands on equipment and they were always far from perfect,

so i wouldnt waste my time trying, just tell custy itis impossible to scratch glass witha nylon brush..

probley wont be a popular post but hay....

Just few things to check.

Although wfp brushes themselves cannot scratch glass, brick dust can. I have seen so many wfp users place their brushes bristle down onto brickwork, make sure you havent done that.

Also does the house have any unpainted rendering, or peppledash? It can crumble off around the sides of the window and could get into the bristles.

And finally, try to see this issue from the cusomers prospective. Be firm, dont admit liability and test the brush with himnto show him its impossible to make scratches.

If it completly breaks down, and he is adament that its your fault, offer a refund on the clean and make it clear to him that you are doing it as a goodwill guesture, and that you are not at fault. Make him understand you know how he ciuld be feeling, and its unfortunate but you are not admitting liability.

i recon its a good idea to take photos of any damage you notice when quoting jobs to use as evidence in situations like this! does anyone else do this?

Thats good then, sounds to me you dont have anything to worry about. Just stick firm, and be as helpfull as possible, avoid arguments dont admit liability.

You will not, cannot scratch the glass with your brush on a maintenance clean.  If there was a nasty deposit of cement left on the glass or some similar substance then yes.

For future reference tell folks, there is nothing in your water or brush that can scratch the glass, if in doubt about a job let them feel the brush etc.  then get them to agree if any marks are revealed they were already there or caused by questionable residue on their glass

GB  your custy would'nt have noticed scratches the other day when cleaning his insides as the outsides were dirty before you cleaned them ,        Even you will know yourself if you have cleaned trad before there has been a few times over the years i cleaned custys windows a few times and not noticed defects marks or scratches on the glass . its just one of those things .     I admitted liability once never again cost me £75:00  it still annoys me over a year later

If it was an initial clean and you had to prep clean it first before you chased it with wfp then possibly but as above its not possible on a regular maintenance clean. Was there any bird dirt on it. Sometimes the birds can ingest particles of dirt and it come out in their faeces. Next thing you clean it of with your brush and spread it all over the glass. I always have a spray bottle of a weak solution to moisten any bird dirt I come across and let it soak for a few seconds ( down stairs only ofcourse) It can help if the dirt is relatively fresh. But you do come across as a bit green GB hope the custies not riding you.
