best place for van insurance guys, we have 650 ltr tanks in each van, last time we tried for a quote it was coming back as silly money, i mean over a grand per van eventually we got it for about £500, they reckon it is because of the tank size. anyoone has 650 tank and has just renewed would be great to know prices please

we have had a renewal quote for about 660 from commercial vehicle insurers but was hoping to get a bit lower, we have 2 ppl working out of our van so 400ltr wouldnt be any good, will let you know what happens, if anyone else answers my question

don't say that lee i have just ruddy bought a 650lt tank due to fit this Sunday and now i find out insurance company's are going ape over the bigger tanks. this country going down the pan fast (great)

I went through A plan, got to prices, one insured the tank the other didn't, think the difference was about £500, so I went with the one without.

I think it cost around £450 in Jan/Feb,

No, They wanted another £500 to cover the tank should it get damaged in an accident.

wished mine was that cheap just paid £1200 ,  to insure a 60 plate mitsubishi L200 double cab pickup , without tank as using trolley at the mo   and when tank goes in the back it wont be a permanent fixture as will take it out when not working ,  the A A   wanted £2200 for the year with 4 yrs no claims

not sure but i bet the insurance was for carrying it and not necessarily for damage to it, please check as if you have a claim and youve told them you dont have a tank youre probably not insured

A Plan were recommended on this forum, so I called them and they are more than aware of the water tank situation, It is covered to carry a tank, however, the tank isn't insured.

I've just spoken to Chris Stone the manager and my tank isn't insured, However, the insurance company and aware that the tank is carried and have NO issuses.....

sorry to be pedantic about this, but are you saying that they have not insured the tank itself for damage but they are happy to pay out for any damage a 650kg weight might do in the event of an accident, i dont wish to seem funny but it seems strange to me, it wouldnt be too costly to replace a tank, but a full tank flying around in a crash could do a fair bit of damage to you, the van and anything it hits

Yes, the van is insured to carry a 650L tank. it cost £412 fully comp with the Mrs on the policy. Ring A plan and get a quote and clear up any doubts you have.
