How to make the Vinyl Floor shining?
« on: August 27, 2011, 10:49:04 pm »
I put some washing powder in the hot water but after I clean it, it wasn't shining. What can I use to make it look shining?

Tin foil. Spread a mix of flour and water all over floor then smooth out the tin foil before the mix dries.

Can't think of anything else in the kitchen you could use. Maybe icing sugar and water applied by pastry brush.

tin foil? the one we use to wrap sanwiches? you mean mix up flour and water together first then scrab it with tin foil? I have to wonder what does tin foil do exactly.

I obviously still have lot to learn when it comes to cleaning, lol.

They also recommanded using white vinager and hot water.

It gives an amazing mirror like finish. It is the ultimate metallised coating. It doesnt wear too much.

Use a neutral detergent to clean the floor and rinse away washing powder detergent.
Then buff floor with a red floor pad on a high speed machine.
Another option is to apply a floor dressing/floor finish.
Do you know what kind of vinyl it was?
Most flooring stores will sell either Amtico or Karndean polish. This will do the job unless its a large area then you may want to get a trade finish in 5 litre sizes.

I'm no expert but I'd strip, neutralise, dry and use a high solids metalised floor polish. I tend to used products from my cleaning suppliers rather than raid the customers fridge / bin and use the remains from their snap or roast. Obviously more than one way to skin a cat  ;)
