thinking of reverting back to hoselock style fittings for connecting pole hose as I'm sick of shelling out money every few months on rectus style fittings that leak. How durable are these compared to gardena's etc. ?
I know I like gardena ones and they last very well but this would do away with the need for an adapter kit or barbed reducer.

i have very little problems with the rectus 21 fittings.i usually have to change them every 5-6 months or so though.they get jammed occasionally and pop off the end of my pole hose but normally their ok.im sure you ll get more leaks with hoselock type connectors.

I'm using B&Q's own brand just now on the end of my minibore. They are blue & £1 each for the water stop connectors, Much better than the Hozelock ones which constantly come apart as the hose moves across the ground. ;)

as said when I used gardena branded ones I did'nt get any leaks, they were cheaper than, readily available locally and outlasted rectus ones that are designed for air lines and tools rather than water.
I am interested in the fitting gardiners now sell as it does away with the need for an adapter (fits straight on to microbore) however I need to know how durable it is else I may just as well buy from somewhere local and make up an adapter.

thankyou winpro, shall look into them
to be honest I dont mind buying 10 of them at that price , that should last a year and way cheaper than rectus

Yeah, that's what I thought. I bought a few but I've had the same one on for 4 weeks now, it's never disconnected accidentally either. That's the biggest problem with hozelocks, as soon as you pull the hose the thing disconnects as it catches on the ground!

If you having problems with rectus female fittings seem to not work and wont grab the male part .Try this: spray w40 into the fitting and twist the flange around ,keep spraying oil until it move round smoothly. Also check the male part as it often get stubbed on the ground and distorts the end. All you need do in file the top where the water come out a little rounder again. I also like rectus 19 more than the 21 as its bigger and stronger.
Another thing I do to stop leaked before i fit a rectus fitting I apply some glue to the parts called Serious glue allow to dry and then fit the clamps to the ends if I need to replace I can just it off.  I hope this will help someone.
