system probs
« on: August 18, 2011, 03:14:20 pm »
ok i brought a 450gpd RO DIY system from pure freedom.

i flushed the ro for 2 hours as it states in the book, then linked the product pipe
to my di and started to produce water when i took a reading it from the DI it was 001 so i took a reading from the RO its self it was 025/026 and it filled the 350l tank in about 4 hours,

went to work used most of the water, come home, pluged it took a reading from the di and it has gone up to 010 so took another reading from the ro and its still at 025/026.

is this normal?
surely the resin hasnt run out all ready?
or could it be a faulty tds meter?
how do you get your water to 0?
im very new to pure water systems so any help would be very greatful.
thank you

26 out of the ro is too high, whats your water pressure
also 0.7 l di is also a problem, wont last 5 mins with 26 tds going in, but should last longer than 1 fill

dont know the water pressure mate but might have to invest in a bigger DI.

purefreedom said too flush the system for another 2 hours witch should bring the tds from the RO down to 20 and also to shake the resin up in the DI.
but they are sending me a new bag of resin bonus

i surpose it was bound to have teething problems

thanks for your help steven  :)

order yourself a pressure gauge for £10 and you get a better idea whats happening.

dont say i got good pressure cause it comes out tap well.you need a reading.

those little di are totally waste of money, never know why they fit them to systems knowing dam well they aint worth a w---k

higher pressure=low tds. ;)

It could be that you hav'nt tightened the lid on the DI properly, this causes the high tds as the water after the RO will contaminate the resin after it goes through it,the water will not be polished off if there is a water still bypassing the resin.

Have you turned the lever on the R. O. to the correct position, i.e. inline with the pipes rather than at 90 degrees to it, which  is the flush position?   ::), coz that's what I did ;D and I kept thinking, blimey, it take a long time to get tds down. Just a thought  ;D

90 degrees is the correct position for production, inline is flush

It might be worth you buying a bigger DI/Pressure vessel to fit into your van.

Your R O function is quite normal as its reduces the TDS to 10% which is correct. The problem is the D I  it seems to small and the resin might be crap recycled produced, it must be virgin resin. The vessel should be 2x 10 inch or a 1 x 20 vessel or a blue11 litre vessel or there about. Your production of 350 litre in 4 hours with no booster pump in good.
