Personalised Reg Plates
« on: August 14, 2011, 11:26:37 pm »
Been well bored tonight, wife catching up on 3 episodes of ER, so spent some time on the internet.
My mate has just bought a personalised number plate for his missus, so thought I'd have a nose around.

Unfortunately, nothing comes up for window but
C134NER will set you back £12,495 and SCR11M costs £10,795, dont want to upset the wfp guys, so WFP 1 costs £29,995

By the time you've added the vat (VAT 3R - £14,995), the DVL4 (doesn't exist) transfer fees and the like, you'll need JU57WON (£14,995) the MY10TTO (£11795) !!!

Like I said....BORED !!

The prices advertised is nowhere near the actual price finally  paid. My friend Ron used to deal in them. Lots of haggling and negotiation.

My son has taken it over now he is home from university, which was always the plan. I am going through a great deal of indecision about what I should do about it from here. I like it and on the face of it its a good business but I'm not sure if thats just a bit of reaction against window cleaning and the old routine.

I still have it as a good idea. When Matthew finishes his degree he is going to need to do a masters and you have to pay all those costs yourself. So a gap year blitzing the dog walking to get some money behind him seems like a better bet than stocking shelves in Tesco. Always assuming he could get a job in Tesco. Then sell the business as a going concern perhaps.

i guess the downside of it is that you cant  let it slide like you can windows , no having a few days off or otherwise there will be a mountain of poop waiting for you .

My Fiesta van is V***JWC.

It came with the van when I bought it last year, so as I am John the Window Cleaner I thought  it was a nice touch.

Shame I am about to lose it. I have moved to Ireland, so the van will be getting an Irish plate.

Why bother changing it? Loads of Irish vans over here that never seem to get changed. I think you only have to bring it back once a year for a day.
