I don't suffer any leaks, connectors blowing off etc.

I use 100m of 8mm hose & varistream. EVERY single connector in my system (twin DI 400ltr) is a hoselock type fitting. I also have 90 degree elbows within the van system- the hoses are just pushed on to the barbed ends & secured only by a plastic tie-wrap!! My barbed reducer on the end of my minibore is also only held on by tie-wrap! No leaks, no air intake! I also use a hoselock reel, lasted me over 6 years without a single issue- I've just replaced it with the same as it "looked" old! ;D

It's VERY easy to make a system leak & hassle free but people will just not listen!! ;) Just mention hoselock & watch the response! However, there's more to it than just the connectors. ;)

I am thinking of going over hozelock with garden type hose as the water resistance coefficient is less when the hose is on the drum, therefor making the pump more efficient. The smaller bore the hose is, the harder the pump has to work.

Gotta be better if your pump is working with you instead of against you :-)

What size hose do you use just now?

All I read about is flow problems, pressure problems, battery problems etc. etc. that's what you get with 6mm hose & no electronic flow control etc!

When I get home I fill my tank from tap, takes 15 mins, job done, ready for next day! ;D

Run pump direct from van battery- via 12v cig lighter socket (63 Ah bosch silver 5 series) all day with no loss of power.
No charging, no split relay & zero fannying about! Some people seem to be a gluten for a hard life!
