Was thinking about letting customers know that if they're able to recommend someone in the local area (and I'm happy to do it) then they'll receive their next clean free (or 50% off etc.) Have any of you done this and was it successful?

Thanks

Yes we have been running RAF scheme almost from day 1  the custy who recommends gets 50% next clean as long as new
custy takes on a regular service .

i would estimate to date that has generated 40 to 50 customers over the last 18 months.

some customers really go for it and will give you a lead nearly every month, others just do it because you
give them a super service etc.. and are surprised to get the 50% off

i do see the benifits of this to increase you round size, however i believe you also get this without the offer by going the extra mile and doing the perfect clean, most recomend us as they know we wipe the frames which for some reason trads round here dont do :-) but with all them custies coming in its clearly working for you, i bet your tired at the end of the week though :-)

hey smudger,

well done on getting such a success

how do you run the RAF scheme of yours?  do you have a leaflet to drop off, or just tell you custies?

cheers

the scheme is straightforward they reccomend friend/family/neighbour - if they take up a regular service the custy
gets 50% the following months clean.

to keep it going you have to remind the custy you operate the scheme, i do this at the end of a first clean when
the impact of clean windows is at it's greatest.

various lines are used - 'get yourself a nice little discount'  or "we're a young growing company blah blah"

same when doing conny roof cleans etc... a quick reminder that we give 50% discount for new custy's...

and then finally we have a twice yearly newsletter - which just highlights it again !

it doesn't suit all custy's and some would/do RAF for free - but as we offer the discount we always apply it.

smudger, can it get costly doing all the 50% off's?

just curious, i find new custy's take about 40% longer on 1st clean (i don't usually charge extra on first clean (maybe i should).

Then what with giving the 50% discount to original custy. ::)
Do you find Darren this has a big impact on your weekly wage?

I realise however you go about building your round your putting time/money.

I have been fairly lucky recently with people just asking or being reccomended.

Was thinking of offering new custy's a free clean on front (not sure on this) or discounted first 1 or 2 cleans.

Don't know if these would have more succes than your scheme or work out costly to myself or just attract messers  ::)

thanks lee

Lee - not really we always charge a 1st clean price ( 1st cleans always take longer ) - which maybe upto double a regular clean price,
so cash to time wise you don't lose a lot,   also look at the long term if i give a custy 50% off a £12 clean
i am down £6.00 one day in a 20 day cycle ( 10 mins )  but i have gained a new custy - lets say a £10 4x
thats £130 a year extra income - a fair trade i feel.

even better when the reg. custy is £10   4x  and their best friend has a rather large 'hall'  and in comes in at £45  4x
 ;D

but of course the danger is that may one day work in reverse a severly bit me on the bum... :-X

good points there smudger.

There's no quick free way to get more work, organic growth can be a long slow process.

Buying work 3-4x  that takes a while to pay off.

Keep growing ;)
