Just weighed a vauxhall combo with full system
« on: August 03, 2011, 09:03:16 am »
just in case anyone wants to know. I have a 400 layflat, one pump, one reel, 2 poles, full tank of fuel, one driver who is about 6ft2 and 14 stone.

The tank was a little off the top in terms of being full and the total gross vehicle weight was bang on 1700kg the pay load is 595kg and the overall limit is 1700kg

So the moral of the story is 400 litres is to much. 350 is the limit and 300 should be comfortable.

If you have 2 men plus all the gear then i'd be lost ;D

Is this a diy system you fitted , just interested how you have fixed the tank in have you drilled through the floor or strapped it some way as I'm putting a bigger tank in my connect but don't really want to make holes in the floor . Cheers

I like the 6'2" part. That's like which weighs most , 1 ton of feathers or one ton of coal. You didn't tell us how long the poles are ;D

well my kangoo has a 625kg payload and i have a 350L TANK.trolley/reel/1 SLX,trad gear and ladders.im 18 stone so i reckon im on the limit with a full tank when i start my day.luckily all my work is within an 8 mile radius.i never fill my fuel tank right up.half way usually.

i think ill make sure i have a 800kg payload van next time with a 400L TANK.that way ill know for sure im under the limit!! ;D ;D

Yeah, but Daz, if you are only 5 foot odd, that could make all the difference.

That rules that van out then.

Cheers Steve,

That rules that van out then.

i think its still a pretty good van and if you need more payload then look for a 2000 gross vehicle weight

its funny how it goes when i had to use trolley out of family car i soon learnt how to improve things to carry less water from different styles of jets some give better pressure to 1.5mm jets, an so on but theses days my van mount is as follows

200ltr tank 130m microbore hose into 6mm pole tubing into 1.5mm jets with this set up i can do the same as yours if not more believe it or not but it works

here it is fully loaded

Is that one of Gardiners reels in there? If so how do you get on with it, they seem good value.

Hi Steve,

Did you ask them to weigh each axle as well? The problem with us and any one else carrying heavy loads is that you could still get fined for overloading an axle even if the vehicle is within payload limits.
