...linked up 2 burners to produce more heat?

Thinking of connecting a second. Heated then heated more into the next. And obviously if you're using a lot of hose temperature drops slightly en route to point of contact so was thinking if it's ok to do.

cant see why not mate. never done it myself, just have to make sure that the hose nearest the burners can handle the heat cause it'll be f***ing hot for the first couple meters of hose!

Can't see the benefit if you are going to heat them  both at the same temp. If you intend to run the first one at a lower temp to preheat, then the second one will raise it again the water will need less time in both to reach temp. Also the second one will get less limescale build up etc.

well, if you run the water through one, then it heats up to say 90...then you run it for a small ammount of hose to the next boiler, which will heat it again... two boilers heating to 100 each, means hotter water...

what heat is your machine currently getting to, i only use one burner but never turn thermostat up full or the water is way too hot, what litre per minute is your pressure washer running at and is the burner the correct one for the amount of litres used, maybe you just need a burner with a bigger litre warming capacity or maybe you could turn your flow rate down a little so the water gets hotter.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

Alright Trev,

It's not a case of the water not getting hot enough. I'm thinking go hotter to blitz gum even faster!

The burner on the van is a 15 litre connected to a Cat 45 on a Honda Diesel.

The erlhe washers are 150 degrees c at 21 litres, get your self 1 and take the boiler off it, or just buy an ehrle boiler? That way 15 litre a min would be steam, I take it you have a similr boiler to me at th min - 15 litre @ 75 degrees c?
Another cheaper way would be to try slightly smaller nozzles in your whirlaway.. say 2 x 02 rather than 025, that way you get slightly less flow rate, but same psi with with the added power of heat... whih makes all the difference... just an idea... on the other hand your unloader valve would be doing overtime.. so probbly not a good idea   ???

Greeedy get, lol, wht about cutting your hose to 30m and a 20m, just using the 30m so it's hotter at the end, you could then connect the other 20m whenever you needed?
or you could by a hds 1000 that i've just aquired... 15 litre a min at 98 degrees...
I would look for a boiler from an erlhe peronally, 21 litre, running at 15 litre would be proper steam

Why not? I never thought about that but there is no reason for you to miss the opportunity to try something new.

That's it. If it does the job faster, the more you impress. Especially with gum removal.

Done a bit of digging. Quote from Gum Clear's website;

Quote
The unit has been housed in a purpose built LWB Ford Transit self contained vehicle. The vehicle is fitted with two 11 litre burners in line compared to every other machine having one. This means that as the water is heated in the first boiler, rather than being pumped to the hub for use in the cleaning operation, it is pumped into the next boiler as already hot water to heat it even further.
Many manufacturers quote very impressive temperatures, but these are at the time that the water is at the pump, and by the time it has traveled to point of contact it's often less than half.
Our system allows steam to be pumped to the cleaning head and even at 45 metres away the temperature at point of contact is still 95 degrees!
At this heat, all chewing gum removal and cleaning of staining is normally able to be completed in one pass without the need for any chemicals.

my quick release o rings melt if i lower the pressure on my pressure washer thru to my hotbox. lee do you just have your hose direct to lance and machine without quick release so you dont have this problem?

i like the idea of 2 burners. but jeeze you will need an artic lorry soon for all your gear lol. :)

Blast Away,
I know the Gum Clear guy really well. There system works really well, we both had the same set up at one point, as they do mainly gum cleaning work he has changed his around to what you posted. Mine is 23 lts per minute and goes up to 300F so will pretty much clean/move anything.
Machine is for sale if you are interested.

Good good Roger. Wouldn't be interested in buying mate.

So do you mean they now have two 15 litre burners rather than the two 11 litres quoted?

drive surgeon: QR couplings yes with good seals last ages. Bought some new one's to try the other week and they lasted an hour. Not fitted with the right seals.

Viton seals from Malcleanse last well in the 20mm couplings failing that try silicon o rings

I don't really know what Martin at Gum Clear has as a final set-up, as they were always adjusting and messing about with it till they got it right, I do know that the truck based re-cycled water set-up sells for around £75K and he has sold a few, mainly councils.
