Hi members,have a problem with some sticky residue on some
Internal glass windows.
Don`t know wether it`s from window film tint that’s been scraped
Off or whatever,but I`ve tried meths,white spirit,WD40,soap water
And a scraper ,nothing will shift it.
I think it needs something to dissolve or soften what ever it is.
Any ideas,thanks for replies.

Hi I think its from the protective film. If its half pulled off then left in the sun, the backing seems to leave the film. had the same problem a few weeks ago. We tried nail varnish remover which softens it, but you have to get it off real quick whilst scraping the residue, then wash with hot soapy water. Try a test area 1st. Hope this helps.

Thanks Denise,I thought about Amelasitate (nail varnish remover)
Also perhaps hot water.
Next week or first rainy day I`ll give it go.

Nail varnish remover is cheaper if you call it acetone and buy 5 ltrs for about £8. Wet a rag with it and hold it on the residue which will soften it up, then wipe it turning the rag as each face becomes loaded with the glue. MEK will also do a good job as would white spirit but would take longer to soften it

Spot on.



Double check that any film has been totally removed before trying anything else.

This should take seconds rather than minutes but baked on window protection will be more time consuming.
