Hi guys/gals,

just noticed that world of clean lease the scorpion triple vac 500psi at £19.00 per week plus vat.
Does any body lease at the moment and what are the pros and cons.

Any thoughts.

I bought my 1st truckmount second hand and leased a brand new truckmount a couple of years later leasing is a very good optionif the machine is right. You do pay for the service but bear in mind you do not want to lease a machine over a few years and find out after a few months that the machine is not what you want. After 20 years ion the business I do not rate the scorpion as a good machine. I know other cleaning companies that bought scorpions but carried on sub contacting me as they could not achieve the result that I get.
There are people on here that will disagree but I have what I have and would not go back I also know a lot of other T.M. 's that have had the experience of both. You will have to decide what is right for you but I would look at getting the opprtunity of seeing different machines in action before comiting yourself to a payment for a few years. There are enough ppeople on here that will give you the opportunity to see things in action without the bull poop.

At the risk of starting another 'I hate anything solutions thread' if customer comments are anything to go by then this says differently http://www.checkatrade.com/willclean/ sorry but nearly all this work is done with the scorpian and if the customers think it's a brill job then clearly the machine has some part to play in that.

If you know what you are doing, using correct cleaning products for the job, wand technique etc, then any machine will get more or less the same results, may take a little longer thats all.
Back to the original question regarding Leasing, if you have the funds i would try buy outright and avoid the monthly outgoings, Cleansmart seem to have some cracking deals on the Airflex range and if i  was looking to purchase a porty then they would be my first port of call.

one thing to look at when buying a new machine is the tax implications sometimes paying over a period of time is the most tax efficient way rather than in one go i am ny no ways an expert but worth speaking to a good accountant

You may have a point there Richard. Also, leasing can help with cash-flow too.... I remember reading that somewhere....

as I said I have experience of both machines and know where I stand. It is quite easy to come accross people who think that the vax machine is a brilliant piece of kit, it is a matter of knowing who to take advice from.

Same as richard said and maybe look into the tax side of things with leasing..maybe even on finance too for tax savings?

The biggest thing to bear in mind with fixed costs such as leasing is that they are the same cost each month.  Unless you have a lot of annual  contract work the likely hood is that your work pattern is going to be very seasonal and you have to meet the payments during the quieter months. Leasing is a very good way of getting equipment that can give you a good income right from the start. You would normally lease equipment over a 2 or 3 year period choose your equipment wisely you do not want to outgrow something that is going to take 2 years to pay for within a few months or learn that there are better ways of doing things.

If your going for the scorpion also look at the jaguar or the airflex
the good thing about leasing is its 100% tax deductable as opposed
to buying out right however read on another post that until next april
you can mark down 100% against tax on equipment you buy if thats
the case I would buy cash if you have the money then if you build up
enough custom over the year you could lease a tm next year if you
feel the need to have a big one.

i am certainly no expert but in these times where help is out there for smaller business s its never been more important to have a good accountant to use the system within the rules to get the best out of the tax system. this way you can forward plan.

I'm not sure it's still at 100% check with your accountant. It was when I brought loads of new gear which means a very low tax bill. I brought it on a credit card, switched it to a 0% card and knocked it off in 3 months. Some deals are still 12 - 16 months so you can take longer if you want. Saved a fortune in interest and fees and it's an assest from day 1, so if it all goes wrong it's yours to sell. If you want to upgrade it's yours so you can sell it on, if you need to. I felt leasing tied me in too many directions as it does not become yours until the end of term (if you chose to purchase). It depends on your situation, work out what your total payback will be and how your business plan will handle repayments.

Barclaycard 24 months @ 0% with 3% transfer fee is apparently the best at present. Although of course any repayments and interest are deductable as an expense.
