LMG. Ladies do defend themselves in this day and age. Helen has a huge amount of received wisdom on this forum.

And I'm sure no aggression was ever intended. This is a debate and your opinion is as valued as everyone elses. I'm sure David Cameron has a sneaky drink with Ed Milliband from time to time.

But please don't resort to expressions like "DUH" which can only imply stupidity on the part of the other debater. If you have a point to make then go ahead and make it and see what reaction it generates. That's the point. That's the fun. If someone takes  the opposite viewpoint to yours then they're not thick. They are putting their views across, which we are all entitled to do - you included  ;)

I have no problem with what you say . about ladies defending themselves. If you read the posts . I am the one who is being made out to be the thick one which is the reason for the DUH ... Yes I agree about everyone having their opinion . ... Maybe I wil leave the posting to those that have greater knowledge of all marketing and ideas ...  :-X

But there again .. Im new so I wouldnt know about it would I .... DUH    ... Not everyone is as negative and as vicious at a new poster .

Get that chip off yer shoulder for pities sake :)

Ive not got a chip on my shoulder at all .. Why would I have a chip on my shoulder ... I was being a little sacarstic I admit . But to say I have a chip on my shoulder is a but out of order, seeing as you know nothing about me. .

Ok , so you don't have chip on your shoulder, you have said you don't, so I accept you don't.........
(but why type in a way that gives others the impression that you do?][

Not everyone is as negative and as vicious at a new poster
(You have no idea what I typed out before that and decided not to post ;D ;D)[/i]
Anyway nothing was aggressive or vicious from me :)
Wasn't particularly negative either, just realistic.

Groupon isn't for our business, but it may be for yours or someone elses. As I put in a previous post, We prefer to work for people that want quality work not for cheapskates that just have work done when there are ridiculously low deals going on that could put you put of business. :)

Im not yet in the window cleaning business . But dont have a round at the moment. So If I did go into this then my eyes would be open . The groupon way may or may not be for me. I would have to look deeper into it before I would comit to anything like that.
For someone just starting out then if the offer is worded correctly and has the chance of upselling or may even get 1 or 2 regular customers then it isnt a bad way to start off.
I do understand you will get a few that will be getting things for next to nothing . But If you have no work and just starting out. People see you working in that street then the opportunity is there to exploit the neighbours and canvass that you have just cleaned number ......
Yes your petrol would be covered and maybe pick up some other work ...
Im a believer in you reap what you sow . ... Sow enough seeds you will get a decent harvest as long as you keep working at it ..  :)

Good points there. I wonder why you've opened a new ID on here though. easy to spot people who know their way around on here. Not really bothered though as it makes no difference.
As you pointed out, being in a street will get you noticed, but so would a run of the mill customer. You'd be in the street when you pick the first custy up.
There is no way anyone can get more work with Groupon (Apart from working for a couple of quid a job) than from a standard leaflet drop of around 5000 leaflets. An even better way to get work faster and worth ten times more than Groupon, is to leaflet and door knock within a couple of days.

There is no free lunch in business mate. I wouldn't touch a shyte deal where I work for 10% of what I normally take. When my business gets that badly run, I'll go back to driving a truck.

Calm down mate, not having a pop at you, just don't understand how you can see Groupon like you seem to see it.

To me, it's obviously a shyte deal for people who have little or bad business sense.

This is my first and only ID and as much as you think you do, you dont know me . If you think you do what part of the country am I from ...

By the way . I do have other trades im qualified at .... One im unable to do anymore...  :( I see it as a tool that could be used. If it is used in a way to benefit someone to get noticed and some work IF used in the correct way to  boost your own business . Maybe not cleaning windows but Gutters and you set the perameters of the deal ... Groupon have a choise to take it . or leave it ... If they take it the way you set it out great . If not ... Then you dont have to use them  ;)

Forget the ID issue then. Who gives a toss anyway?

Groupon have turned over billions on dollars worldwide. I'm sure when some window cleaner or gutter cleaner or carpet cleaner can squeeze a good deal out of them, so they can keep there head above water. You seem a switched on cooky.

Go for it.

OOPS, nearly forgot, let us know how you got on. If I can remember this thread.

Oh! I'm sorry Lewis, honestly mate, if I'd have known you were from Swansea, I wouldn't have been so short with you.

Nowadays, it's not such a stigma to come from Swansea. Some of the normal people I've met in my lifetime have come from terrible places too.

Don't let it effect you on here though mate. We can't choose everything in life. Chin up, ignore the jibes, at least you're not a Geordie.

Nevermind Cosy .... You cant seem to leave the sarcasm alone...

I know and so do many more. That the Gower peninsular (where I was born and bred) is a place of natural beauty . It was also the first place in Britain to be designated an area of outstanding natural beauty .

I was not born with a sliver spoon in my mouth . I was born with the privilage of seeing such scenery every day that most people would die just to see the once. I was born not with anger . but with love and grace and an open heart . to have sea air fill my lungs when I breathe . To wake up with a smile if it is sunny or if it is bad weather . ... But that is a privilage I do not take for granted ..  ;)

from the great words of wisdom in the famous Monty Python film  - THE LIFE OF BRIAN ....

Brian: Please, please, please listen! I've got one or two things to say.
The Crowd: Tell us! Tell us both of them!
Brian: Look, you've got it all wrong! You don't NEED to follow ME, You don't NEED to follow ANYBODY! You've got to think for your selves! You're ALL individuals!
The Crowd: Yes! We're all individuals!
Brian: You're all different!
The Crowd: Yes, we ARE all different!
Man in crowd: I'm not...  :o
The Crowd: Sscccchhh!

So groupon take 50% or try too.

Question: Do you collect email addresses of all your customers, if you do then we can speak with you about placing your own groupon style software onto your existing website, and use this as a promotion on extra services like gutter, conserv and more.

If you are interested then we would love to show you a demo, plus you could keep keep most of the fees yourself and market to your existing or old customers in a genuine unique way.

Let me know if you wish to have a chat and view a demo.

Its a fantastic tool if used creatively.
