30 minute cleaning, struggle for staff?
« on: July 14, 2011, 01:20:36 am »
on top of 2 hours in evening we've been asked to include price for additional day time cleaner for 30 minutes per day (with option of additional hours booked a couple weeks in advance as and when required).

what i'd be interested to know is how much of a pain is this? as it's only agreed 30 minutes will cleaners actually want to bother for that? i assume we'd have to pay 1 hour at a higher rate and include that as travel time?

My concern is then also how much of a an can it be when customer want an additional hour. Do people find the cleaner will often make plans for rest of the day? I'd guess the cleaner would normally be working for you all day any way so either there or not they'll be working somewhere.

Tell the customer minimum rate is for 1 hour...... If he still only wants 30 mins then you tell him you will still charge for the hour....

This then pays for the travel of your cleaner.  ;D

If you are not careful bending over backwards for the customer you will end up shafting yourself.   :o

What would be next 10 mins every 2 weeks?????     :-X

Get a grip of your customers Kermit, and then reap the rewards....   ;D  :-*

Make it part of a full timers round.

We've been asked for this quite a lot recently. People are obviously cutting back to the bone, requesting 30 mins every week, fortnight etc. Same problem, its not worthwhile for any cleaner to come out for this, most of our cleaners want min mon - fri 2 hrs per night keyjobs not p/t daytime cleaning, but clients want less and less so the 2 are not matching up. Even more of a problem when it comes to daytime cleaning as most cleaners are working or studying then, poss they might do 30 mins in the eve if its close to another job they do, but to come out during the day - no chance. Making it part of a full timers round could be viable, but I would suggest it might not be hardly worth it for 30 mins unless you have enough work in the area to make up their hours. If you did make it worthwhile for a cleaner to come out for 1 hour or so during the daytime I very much doubt the client would be willing to pay the price but if they were the other big problem is, if you do manage to find a cleaner willing to do just 30 mins or even an hour, and they then dont turn up, covering these times during daytimes is not going to be cost effective and logistically v difficult.
