Do they charge for paying in cheques?

Also are there any other charges that you might need to be aware of?

Cheers fellas.

Im in my 18 months free business banking and under than period its all free. After that well they are just as much of a numpty as the rest of them, so probably.

Not had a problem yet thou with them.

Its a good idea in my opinion to business bank with your current account bank.

They charge me a fee of £15 a month, 30p per cheque paid in and I think it's 8.5 p per £100 paid in. So it does mount up. They haven't cocked up yet tho.

LloydsTSB are pretty much the same as Barclays - after the free period, you pay per cheque, pay per credit slip, cash is toooo expensive to pay in.

Was tempted to change to Santander for free business banking, but heard some horror stories on here.

Not sure about the co-op deal? Spoke a few years back with the FSB - seemed a bit vague

Personal account has been with Lloyds for 20+ years, doesn't seem to count for much with the business side of things,

To change now would be a pain - as so many custy's pay by bank transfer

I'm sure these charges could be negotable - anyone got experience of biting back at their bankers?

Just started mine up with barclays, I pay £14.50 +vat per month for the account and after the first years free banking it's 30p a cheque and 50p for the paying in transaction.

They advised, to collect them all week and pay in on a Friday evening or Saturday morning to save on the additional 50p charges. So if you pay in say 20x cheques it's £6.00 plus the transaction charge of 50p which is £6.50.

They did say however if you can get them to pay via paypal or a standing order/ transfer it's free for life!!!

Plus with barclays, if you sign up in branch you get hour own business account manager. Mine was great and i think it'll certainly make it easier to sort any issues or borrow any future monies etc...

Been with santander now for just under a year.

They (or me, haven't checked yet as to be honest can't be arsed) have made a mistake and they have debited my cheques paid in to the grand total of £1

I'm pretty certain it's their mistake but for the sake of checking £1412.50 worth of payments they can keep their £1.

I wonder how much this has cost them in manpower hours and sending me a letter in the post.
