I take it you need everyone to have HEP B jabs for that Regency/BDCS,... AIDS must be a worry though, I'd be alright as I've had it twice already;D
Seriously though I didn't think councils would want to pay that sort of rate, there's many a property stuffed full of them (needles) in Bradford and Leeds, in the younger and foolish  past we filled bins up with sh@t from council houses including the needles- wouldn't do it now of course. I've studied management level occupational safety and health (health and safety) so I reckon I have the necessary skills to offer that service... but what's insurance like? I'd appreciate post or email on that one!

Regency Staff have had hep B jags.
Am not sure what the cost of the insurace is as its build into my policy.
The councils are now looking for trained and insured staff to carry out this work so i guess they know what kind cost is involved.

I get undercut on this type of work as they just put needles in the ordinary waste bins, done by unskilled staff without insurance. If your not asked for it you don't need it - obviously. There is very little revenue around here - you do the training and they would lead you to think you could order your jag ! You won't catch aids unless its fresh and done correctly you will be in little danger but I have hep b jabs.

Hi

With BDCS on this, Trauma work in general is very little and the market is flooded.

We are not trying to blow each other away all the time and it's not private enerprise like it is in the states. also the council would rather train their own people and pay £7 an hour than pay us £60-100 p/h.

I do have a Hep C job to price up but it will come down to funding as usual.

I just cannot see how there can be justification for charging the amounts you're stating when and if the council can pay their operatives £7 ph ish to do the job. I'm in business and have been many years but fail to accept that £60-100 can be achieved with councils these days- in spite of the costs of training and insurances. That is to say no wonder the council want to train their own staff. I am nonetheless aware that prices down South vary greatly to those up North

Hi Rick

If you can't see the justification for it, then you will never earn it.

If people want to put their health and lives on the line for £7 p/h then they are more than welcome to it.

Poeple ask me to do a job and I give the price, they either do it or get someone on the cheap.

I have lost jobs through this but then I don't come cheap, full stop.

Just quoted for a Hep C flat today, very dangerous job for which has been quoted appropriately and no where near £7 an hour. I quoted one back in January which is a clean 'n clear and the rubbish is waist high, still waiting for the go ahead as funding has to be sought.

We got a call to a house that had around 130 needles in it gave the company our price who said" that's too much we leave it this time" they got somebody else to go who diddnt check every where and the new tenants found some needles!! Who weren't happy agent then phone back to say can we go back to check again, so it jet goes to show that if you pay £7 ph then the service you get won't be very good

First I have never done any work for our local council but they don't employ many hands on staff anymore so they contract all the work out to SITRA, if the jobs is urgent and they don't have the specialist staff - who does it ? People pay those prices to have their drains cleared so why should you deal with sharps and blood spills cheaper ? Thats what I want and if some half wit only wants £7 then the works his and I'll do nowt

spot on, I can stack shelves for more than that, without the risk of infection or death

happen it's just that it's grim up North then, but if Bradford council paid those rates they'd be broke in a month, albeit I'm not sure that they aren't already. You know what you're worth and more power to you if you achieve it however nor would I condemn someone for doing it for £7 per hour as if they are suitably trained and instructed with the required information then the level of risk should be manageable. I neither intend to do it for that (£7) nor would I want to stack shelves, I would consider carrying out such works at a rate not greatly more than other works as there isn't enough work to go round up here and that opinion is echoed by most people I know. A good friend who runs a large local carpet wholesalers just said yesterday he's never known it so bad in 30yrs.  Anyone saying different up North must have their pants on fire.
You Southern boys must have it softer at the moment!!!
