Residential Window Cleaning Contract
« on: October 14, 2005, 10:19:49 am »
Hi everyone,

Whilst our signwritten van was parked on the drive at 8.30 am this morning a young guy dropped a leaflet through our door dvertising a window cleaning service.

Not a problem - we all have to earn a crust, however when I rang the freephone number to learn about their service (the only way to keep on top of what your competitirs are doing !!), I was told it would take up to 14 days for someone to come and do an assessment on the property and if acceptable I would need to sign a contract giving 3 months notice of cancellation.

Does anyone else have any of these residential contracts with this cancellation period in place /  Does it work and is it legally binding ?

Is this assessmenta risk assessment and do we have to do one prior to every residential clean as they told me they have to ?  If so, does it apply to wfp ?

Samples of your residential Risk Assessment Form and Residential Contract would be gratefully received.

Regards,

Sarah

Hi Sarah

Yes I use a domestiic contract, it works very well. But to inforce it would be another thing.

However it lets the customer know what you expect of them, ie 3 days notice of cancelation of a clean etc.

I have been using it for over 20yrs.

You can download a copy from the download documents area.

Hi Roy,

Thanks I'd very much appreciate having a copy of the wf p one when its done.

We are based in Cwmbran but dont venture far as 98% of our work is in the town itself.

Dont do any risk assessments at the moment ( have to go the H & S are knocking at the door as we speak) but intend to do one for each commercial job next visit.

Is there a web address that shows you how do conduct one and what things you need to look for ?

Kind regards,

Sarah

Sarah,

You're just up the road from us, Wor Lass is from Pontypool; but that's not her fault.

It wasn't us that leafletted you mind!

However, have you heard of PM Window Cleaning; they're based in Blackwood and claim to be the biggest window cleaning company in South Wales.  They clean around Chepstow too, which has got to be nearly two hours drive from their base.

Anyway, they do a contract too and require a double payment on the first clean, with the fourth clean done for free.  Obviously they've had people mess them about.

In the Yellow Pages they claim to be 'South Wales's Cheapest Window Cleaning Company'.  Why?  'Because we clean thousands of houses every week'.

Google for them.  They've got a web-site.

I've taken a few jobs off them.  Large companies are fair game.  They seem to do a good job though.

That's what I like in a Gal - really organised and on the ball! (Cuz I'm not! That's why I married Mrs Malc G all those years ago - tho' funnily enough being organised and on the ball wasn't high on my list of "must haves" when I married her at age 21!)

Modified to add:- Ooops! Oh yeah, contracts/risk assessments  -  I only use them for commercial and schools, but you've got to admire a company that is that profeshnial, ( :D) it's bound to impress.
It's a game of three halves!

Evening Tosh,

I know it wasn't you Tosh it was the aftermentioned !!!

From what I have been told today they are heavily into Franchising and sell area to franchisees, who in turn leaflet the area with their unique code on the top.  All call go to their centre in Blackwood and are passed back to the operatives to follow-up.  Its a good method of monitoring new franchisees activity.

I also heard they take advnced payments and still use  traditional methods.

Not worried about them but sent me off on te risk assessment/written contract for residential path today (in between Tv and xmas wrapping Malc).

Malc,  Can you be so kind to send me a sample of your commercial document for me to adapt.

Ps:  I may be organised but believe me I am not perfect, my feet smell ans  get grumpy after 9pm !!! ;D

Hi Gaza,

The local franchisees in my area use small white, signwritten Vauxhall Corsa's.

Wills just come in and told me the same guy has been posting leaflets all day and covered a large area.

Should have asked him to post some of ours at the same time  !!!!!!!! :P

Sarah
