I thought it had!
I have an 18' about 12 months old and a 22' about 3 months old and not had any problems with the clamps.

The gluing issue that some of the CLX poles had, has been sorted and the incidents of clamps coming off is now less than 0.5%. What age is the CLX27? is it from the latest batch? Has he contacted the Office to get this sorted?

Obviously we are always very keen to hear of any faults, as then we can sort them and help prevent re-occurrences.

I am sure that if your mate has contacted the Office, it will be sorted out.  Unfortunately I cannot sort it out on the forum as we will need to address this directly.  It is a shame that this has happened to his new pole but I can assure you it is extremely rare on these latest batches of poles, in fact this is only the second CL-X to have this happen in the last 1000 poles.
