water question
« on: June 19, 2011, 10:19:53 am »
Had my system year and a half, its a 4040.  My tds out tap is 320 and after ro 22.when i used first resin i got with system (dont know name ) and had 2 refills on my 11l di. Bought a new bag of resin tulson mb115. and even from new start cant get water to 0ppm only ever 1ppm. I did have a little old resin left which had been stored 6 months in airtight tub do you think that this may have something to do with it.

Im starting 2 wonder if tulsion is as good u hear? (see my twin di thread) Depends where u are in the country they say? Im also directin my attention 2 my vessels to find out if its that - i done a experement with 1 vessel by putting tissue around the bottom filter, bagging it then duck tappin it tight. I then put it to the tap and turned on @ 40psi / so in theary no water sould come out the other end. It didnt, but when i re striped it the tissue was wet! So this tells me water is prob leaking back into the top head seal, ive heard that the cheap plastic inside can distort a bit under pressure, bcos i dont think it went in through bag or tape. This would mean that when the stop cock in the ibc kicks in and the vessel comes under pressure, making the water mix @ both ends? - maybe thats whats killing my resin? Im now going 2 try a water timer, so it shuts of water @ the tap b4 the ballcock in the ibc, and c how that goes.

How accurate is your TDS meter? They aren't ultra-precision instruments.

And anyway, 001 TDS will be fine on the windows.

Chill.
