Converting an SLX
« on: June 14, 2011, 09:29:10 pm »
Ive got a SLX 22, but i need a 35' pole for a couple of jobs, i havent got the money to buy a new slx or elite, but was wondering how easy it would be to buy the extra sections from gadriners to add on to my slx when needed to make it a 35ft pole, has anyone done this?

i asked gardners today while pre ordering a 22ft slx about doing this as i need something slightly longer for a couple of jobs, she said i could get a section from the slx 25 and use that but would have to take the clamp bolt and lever off every time i want to add it to the 22ft one and the same when taking it off.

why would you have to remove the clamp and lever bolt?

Also arent you ment to use the appropriate base section too? I.E. if you want to upgrade your pole 1 section you have to buy 2, well dont have to but Im sure its reccomended.

probably, because the base section is fiberglass.

you can suggest it Jeff but there have been big advances in telescopic poles  lately, namely the super lite extreme, which is granted part tele part modular at serious heights i beleive.

If adding an extra section to the handle section of an SL-X you will not need to take off the lever each time.  All you will need to do is to remove the end cap from your current handle section and slide the new handle section on.  If you were to buy a larger pole and remove sections when not needed, you would then need to remove the lever in order to open the clamps up to slide over the joint stop tape (unless you remove this tape).

Hi
Can I just buy an extra section then that will fit the base section of the slx 22 from yourselves that I Can add when needed
Thanks

Yes you can. You would need to buy a base section 6 (from an SL-X30, not from an SL-X25 as you were told).  This would add 5ft to the pole.

Modular poles are fine unless you need to adjust the length by less than a section or are working in a tight area.

In my opinion telescopic poles are far far superior :)
