confusing problem?!
« on: June 13, 2011, 08:49:06 pm »
Hello everyone.  I'm new to this game and would welcome your expertise!!  I have recently bought a pressure washing set up which includes a Hilta yanmar pressure washer which I was told is 15 ltr per min 250 bar 3500psi(?)  Water is supplied from a 1000 litre IBC . I have one lance with a turbo nozzle.  On the last few jobs the pressure drops off after about half hour of running and you have to let go of the trigger to build pressure back up before you can carry on. This process continues for about an hour before it seems to spring back to life.  Obviously, this makes an hours job twice as long as you spend more time waiting for pressure to build rather than working!!  It did it to me again today.  I was thinking it could be a pressure washer problem, or I believe lances and nozzles don't last forever, could it even be a bit of 'crap' sucked through the system?!  Was wondering if any of you guys had ever experienced anything similar?  Thanks.

I've no idea what is wrong but the machine does;nt have that many ways to go wrong so go through the system and check everything for problems.

the supply hose from the IBC isn't kinked
the supply hose filter in'nt blocked

if the pump is receiving a good supply of water then when the problem is happening check to see if it is still bypassing when you are pulling the trigger, ( might be a faulty uploader)

then start looking inside the pump head, check the seals

if you are losing pressure then either...... the pressure isnt being created or its going somewhere else instead of your lance.

just go through a process of elimination

Another thing may be where your feeder pipe is (tank to machine ).Are you sucking water out of your ibc through the top of the tank ( so your machine has to suck water from the bottom of the tank then up the pipe) or have you plumbed it in so it sucks at the bottom of the tank by the tap just like a water tank does on your loft .In other words if you take the feed pipe off your washer will water flow freely just using gravity.

The hose is connected at the bottom of the tank so is gravity fed.  The tank is quite dirty though which is why I thought could be a bit of crap.  I have tried to clean it but you can never get them fully clean.  Might be better to buy a clean one!!!  Thanks for your help guys, will start to go through the list of possibles!!

Presuming you have checked the filter on your washer too
