Scam

Thought I would put this on here so that you are all careful.
I have found out that there are persons using all our company details, (with an 0800 number which I have called but they say they know nothing about it) mainly in Belgium & Holland at the moment, they also have sign-written vans and are doing work as us.
Couldn't really work out what the gain would be, till today, they are running up credit, invoices have started to arrive for repairs etc.

Police are next to useless as it is not a crime to impersonate a company or person till you are out of pocket.

I'll find them.

Hi

Send them back saying at no time were you out of the country and the work was not required by your company and give them the number of the company who did ask for it?

Are the bills arriving from english companies?

Isn't this some kind of fraud? I mean, this has to be illegal..

Good luck with it mate, i hope you sort it out. I cant imagine the headache.

Matt

No invoices are from a Belgium company over 1000 euros.
Police say they have done nothing illegal, as I am not out of pocket, it is not a crime or illegal to impersonate a company or person until it costs the impersonated person or company money. So they can use my Vat number and company reg. No and say & work as R&A Pressure Washing Services Ltd and there seems to be nothing I can do about according to the Police.

Trading standards will take 5 days to look at my complaint.

Martin,
Tried contacting the company that sent the invoice, Public Holiday in Belgium today, so will call them tomorrow.
As far as the company who's phone number they are using (as I have been informed) say they know nothing about it and also don't work overseas.

You might have hit the nail on the head there Carl, as the guy on the end of the 0800 number just happens to be Irish, not slating all he Irish here.

Maybe a coincidence that I've heard several times in recent weeks that Holland is now a stomping ground for travellers earning big money fast on cleaning roofs and drives etc.

Is there any precautions we can take against this?

So who is paying you to sort all the grief they have caused you ? If thats not out of pocket what is ? Put a blue light on your van and they would stop you pretending to be their firm. Police and dole wallers - both want their money for doing nowt
