ok so ive conaceled my other couple of jobs today and gone to see anchor cleaning
ive got a quote for my combo

350 ltr tank
shurflo pump 12v 100psi 5.2lpm
streamline dial controller
filterplus direct flow ro system 600gpd without booster pump
install system with frame
float valve-side mounted

total inc vat 1,328.75

what do you recon?

is the frame painted?? as some metal painting can cost the earth!!

In that case let them sort it for you.
Just be sure that the van won't be tied up with filtering if you need it for private use.
That's why I have a static unit with fast fill to van.
I assume you can park at your house?  Remember, you may need to plug a heater in the back ogf the van in winter or be able to easily dismantle the kit to take it indoors.

yeah i can park on my drive! little bit worried about the fact i'll have to leave it fillting though, that means i wont be able to use it for going canvassing and personal use! i have got garage space for a static system! would static be better?

To be honest that doesn't sound bad at all mate. I would say that is a VERY fair price indeed if the tank is framed & bolted to the chassis etc?

You could DIY cheaper but the hassle would come with fixing the tank/frame & then of course you've got to source all the kit & fit it. I'd normally advise to DIY but at that price I think I'd let them do it!

If I were you, honestly I'd send that quote to pure2o. I got an email of them a few weeks ago, they have a thing at the moment that they'll beat any quote.

They are owned by ionics, so you could end up with a top notch system for a very cheap price. There site is www.pure2o.co.uk.

Yes that can be tricky at first but I found that I learnt it as I went.  I was fortunate that I had some unofficial telephone support from the installer.  However, I suppose it's about weighing up the down time early on fitting it yourself vs. possible downtime later.  Personally, I wasn't happy about having over half a ton of water behinfd me so I figured that if they were going to fit the tank they might as well do the other bits.  These days I would be OK about doing the other bits so long as the tank was professionally fitted.
A fitting for me would be fairly simple though for two reasons.  (1)  I have a holding tank so would only need a delivery unit.  (2) I would opt to fit the pipework as a return to tank.  Something else I would probably try now is something that I haven't read about on here either.  I would probably opt for John Guest type fittings weith extra joints a few inches from the pump (I currently have half inch hose jubilee clipped to barbed fittings at the pump).  Also, I might opt for those little plug type plastic bits for electrical connections a few inches from the pump.  This would allow me to remove the pump a lot more easily in Winter.  I won't bother altering the setup that I have but when I have another one (at next van change), I will most likely give that a try.  It would be just a matter of unpopping four connections (two for water and two electrical) and removing the pump.  Much easier than undoing jubilee clips and re-sleeving electric wires.  Please note that I am unable to park overnight near to electricity thus making a heater in the van difficult.

thanks for the heads up mate! i really appreciate it! the only reason im thinking of going with anchor is because there on my doorstep literally in the same town! so im thinking if things go wrong i can drop my van off at there unit and get the bus home!

The only thing I think you have to consider more is whether you go with an on-board filter system or static set up. You say you have a garage, which is a bonus for you if you go static IMO.

also how good is a 600gpd ro? he said it would take 5 hours to fill my 350 ltr tank! is that sound about right?

Hi gb i have just fitted a hf5 4040 ro/ di/ 10 inch pre fillers  in my mates combo over the weekend and i have to say i am well impressed with it the fill time is about 1 1/2 hours to fill a 350 lt tank full. i was thinking of getting rid of my static system and fitting the same in my vivaro because i would not have to worry  about the ibc freezing up in the winter just put rad in the van and if i do run out of water i can still fill up any where.

I'm affraid I can't offer you advice on RO's as I don't use one myself. Plenty on here do though.

if you are worried about filling times, i would recommend getting a 4040 ro, it may an over kill for the amount of water that you need, but with a booster pump it fills my 650L tank in 1h 45min, so you could fill your 350 in 600GPD ro off which may be £150? then add the price of a 4040 ro which with the pre filter would cost you would be looking at £1800, whoich would still be a good price for having a system fitted.
