Can the waste water coming out of r/o be reused or is it full of too many impurities. eg. water feed to feeder tank, pumped to ro  and di then into storage tank ready to use with the waste that would normally go into the drain going back to feeder tank to start the process again.Thinking this could save a massive amount on water wastage and cost ??

Cheers , so am I right in thinking alot of the waste water is simply overload because the ro can't process it and is a vehicle simply to push the rest of the water through at pressure or would this water have been rejected because the quality isn't good enough so will have more contaminants in it than straight from the tap???

ro membranes are not designed to hold the unwanted minerla, they are designed to seperate minerals from water molecules.

the only way a membrane can do this is by using a portion of the feed water as a continual rinse on the membrane, so therefore you have waste water and by its very nature (rinsing the surface of the membrane) it will contain a high concentration of dissolved minerals.

If you want to reduce the amount of waste water produced fit a valve in the waste pipe and turn it down a little. You can turn the waste off totally however this does defeat the object of RO. As you would expect reducing the waste will knock out the filters quicker though.
