He's also forgotten the range of poles offered by Gardiners.
Want modular? buy the S2
Want a combination? buy the extreme
Want carbon telescopic for height? buy the Smax
Want carbon everyday pole? buy a SLX
Want a cheaper everyday pole? buy a CLX

Then look at the range of brushes available.

I think Gardiners cater pretty much for every professional. What more could you ask? Just can't see any reason to knock them constantly.

What if Gardeners and elite are the same company. . . . . . !!!!  :o :o :o

Wouldn't that be clever marketing, creating competition to make people choose between the two and actually making money from both  ;D ;D

I am happy to say that Gardiners and Elite are not the same company and the poles not the same poles and are not even made in the same factory - which would be difficult as the Gardiner range is made from bespoke components manufactured in 3 different countries.  :)

As the only pole I've seen with lateral clamps is yours, is the Elite pole simply not a copy of your design?

We introduced lateral clamps to the WFP world back in 2007 with the first SLX, these used alloy lateral clamps. Then in March 2009 we released our unique and 'in-house' designed innovative thermoplastic lateral clamps with an 8 pole line-up to go with the new clamps. These were at the time unique and original and were granted, in April 2009, Registered Design Status by the 'European Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market - Trade Marks & Designs'. About a year later Ionic's brought out their 'innovative' transverse clamp which is a similar mechanical arrangement and some clients have even commented they look the same - according to their 2010 brochure these transverse clamps represented a 'step forward in pole design'.

Then about 12 months ago a Chinese manufacturing firm started advertising a lateral clamp pole on the trade market. In this country one retailer is selling these as the 'Elite' pole. I would not say that their clamps are a copy as they are a lot more bulky and operate slightly differently - time will tell as to their longevity and operation. However looking at the range of sizes this firm is offering it is easy to see where they get their size inspiration from  :) These poles are also being promoted in Hong Kong by an Australian chap called Perry Tait (or Michael Maait, depending on which name he is using currently).

Having compared other offerings though, I am still very happy with our 'own design' pole range and the way they perform. Good ideas will generally be replicated by others and happens throughout the business world. The key is being true to your own design ethos and then making those designs the best you can.

quote blue frog systems from the sill brush thread
"Finally i would like to point out gardiners don't slate the competition"

Thats hilarious gardiners are the worse for it, there always on the froum posting
i dont see other suppliers postimng that often if at all

in this post he knocks ionic and the water fed pole company (elite poles) directly and through suggestion and at the same time he's continually praising himself

this forum has been hijacked, with good reason sell a pole for £400 to 25 forum members and thats £10,000 reasons to knock the competition

forums should be independant, the recent wfp test with the gardiner pole and the elite pole was recommended to be re-tested. by gardiners of all people and the test was done again, unbelievable no impartiality at all

why has no one mentioned the new pole from gardiners has lost its ability to be a true telescopic pole, what makes a telescopic pole so useful is the ability to be able to set the correct height of the pole to the inch.

You say that the slx xtreme ability to not function as a true telescopic has not been mentioned, if you hadn't noticed I posted a review and a video mentioning that point. Gardiners are even shipping an updated 4th section to their existing 25 ft xtreme customers that helps resolve this issue, something that will obviously cost them money.

Here are the links just in case you hasn't seen them.

Hi Simon
I looked at your video this morning and appreciate the step by step explanation of the workings of Alex's Extreme pole which I found very informative. Thank you for taking the time to do it.

its not a lateral clamp, its called a cam lever which was designed many years ago and is used in hundreds of applications, just about every every kind of telescopic pole/tubes have been using them in every orientation before you were born

Ok then, show me some applications that use this same type of clamp that has been around for over 30 years!

you just argue foe the sake of it
Alex Gardiner has posted the answer for you

Alex has got to be a little embarresd
by some of the post about him or his equipment by his own customers

most of my posting comments about gardiners
are from the daft comments left by others, and not gardiners

you bring it on him, not me or even gardiners

:) What you don't realise is Gardiners have virtually nill sales pitch. I don't see a Gardiners leaflet on my door mat. I don't get phonecalls and texts, I don't get emails asking me to purchase, I don't have to sign in to view their website. I buy their products based on previous experience. If there were better products out there at better prices I might try them. So far I have felt no need.
Customer service has always been brilliant - sometimes their products haven't been perfect but a quick call and anything is taken care of not at my expense I hasten to add. With service like that and great products why would I need to go anywhere else?
By the way my Protecta balls come from Tescos, some pole hose came from Polarbrite, valve holsters from Wintecs, Resin from Doug in Scotland, Tank from Pure Freedom, pumps from Pure Freedom, filters from either Gardiners or Pure Freedom, heater from Peter Fogwell, trad gear from Scrim City, Wagtails from Windowcleaning Wharehouse, scrapers, 'o' rings, gloves from ebay but all poles and brushes from Gardiners.

here is a prime example of my un-biased post to this post -

You are being naive

Gardiners has been a member since 16th november 2005 and has made nearly 5,000 popst and is the 4th person to spend the most time on line in the forum with over 136 days, more time than the forum adminstrator

that is relentless advertising/marketing from a supplier, more than the other methods you mention.

So for you to post "Virtually nil sales pitch" most people of sound mind would find that astonishing when taking into account gardiner forum statistics, to suspend your own judgment or worse have it impaired shouild be a concern

learn not to react to differences of opinion about equipment, its just equipment for you to operate your business. Its not about defending or help line the pockets of any supplier.

thats a resonable post, make your own mind up

Alex G did go for a massive amount of time not posting anything, I'm really glad to see him posting again. He's one of the few on the forum that can give really good advice all the time. He is also open about who he is unlike some that post for other manufactures but under a different name, pretending to be a customer.

Sherwood, great video that thanks very much.

It may not have come across in the video, but I really do think these are good even though it may not operate as a standard tele, although the update on the 25 ft will help a great deal. We are going faster using these new poles than we did using the standard slx range and have more energy at the end of the day.

Simon, I've linked it on another forum - hope you don't mind.
I don't have an extreme but might well consider one in the future. I remember my early days of being totally shattered with glassfibre poles, Vikan sill brush etc. These days I come home 'cos I'm bored more than anything not because I'm knackered  ;D

Not a problem. Glad to see the back of the glassfiber and brick brush days.

I'm certainly not a plant. Last time I checked I don't need to agree with Everything
The gardener lovers on here say. I have givin good reviews to gardeners products
On here and other forums when I believed they were the best, recently said the sill brush looks like it will be great. Sorry for giving my honest opinion that working with them side by side I prefer the elite to slx.

I really can't dee the point of all this slagging off on here.
I've bouight poles from various companies over the years and it's turned out that Gardiners have made the poles that are most suitable for me.  It's mainly to do with their weight relative to height and to the section lengths which mean that I can keep them in the van rather thasn in a holder on top.
I also read on here that Alex. is from Tecbuk.  That would be a pity if it's true because I've also bought bits from them and found their products and service just fine.  There's no need for Tecbuk to slag off the opposition because Tecbuk are OK too.  It only deneans the one doing the slagging off.
Might Alex. become known as the "Tecbuk Triffid"?  :)

Come on man lighten up.  You've got a good service and products there.

I agree

However, when Alex pops up everytime, like he does, with false information, the I feel it only fair to both readers & the related products that he be corrected.

There are many but here are two of his "favourites"

Aerial brush- "the only brush made for WFP"   ??? ???

SL brushes are "cheap to manufacture"  ??? ???

Both couldn't be more wrong, you only have to read his back posts to realise the guy hasn't that much knowledge of the industry & the "agenda" sticks out like a sore thumb!! ;D

It's a shame for Tecbuk as he's doing them more damage IMO than anything. Tecbuk do have some nice products too but even some of their own claims are "debatable" to say the least! ::)

Talking about lack of knowledge, aren't you the person who, when the discussion was about the fact that pure water didnt conduct electricity, replied in a rather patronising way:

"You have to be joking, right?"

Even though this is a known fact.

It seems to me that there are plenty on here who think that a good way to get people you don't like to shut up is to accuse them of being a 'plant'.
Its pathetic.

So he disagrees with you, so what.  Get over it.  Its a forum, and thats what forums are for. It doesnt make his opinion any less valuable than yours.

He can disagree with me all day long, if you were to take enough time to read before "butting" in then you would clearly see that this is not an issue about "disagreeing"  ???. Him spouting falsehoods though, with the sole intention to discredit very good products, does who any good exactly?

As for pure water/electricity-

This issue was regarding a risk of electrocution via solar panels. You of course are right in that "pure" doesn't conduct. However, if you'd put a bit more thought in to this, instead of trying to look "intelligent" you should have realised that the "pure" water wouldn't be "pure" anymore once it hit the solar panels!

Oh, I know you might say it's still pure going up through the pole but what about the water that "might" be running back down the inside or outside of the pole? What if it was a pole with no "insulating" base handle?
